My guess is around the same as Fudd's. But if I were you, I'd just upgrade the CPU, mobo and RAM. Everything else you have is pretty well top notch still, and in my opinion you really won't find much for a better video card that'll be worth while, but I'm only saying that because ATI's 5800 series cards are ridiculously scarce so good luck finding one. haha
On top of that, it might be more economical for you to buy another 4870 to pair up with the one you have. New ones are getting pretty cheap, and obviously used ones are even cheaper. But that's if you even need more power in that department.

I was really debating on getting a pair of 5850's but I couldn't find any, and I still can't! lol So I'm holding onto what I've got for a while longer. I might wait until nvidia shows their hand which will cause more price reductions, or Crysis 2....... which ever come first.

nothing wrong with a pair of 5770s. Scaling is really good now as my 2nd card gets me roughly 85% performance increase over one card. A Xeon 3440 on 1156 platform would outright spank your setup now, and the chips are about 260 or so.

I was thinking about going I7, but the cost of cpu,mem and board are close to 800.

Xeon 3440(same specs as an i7 860 pretty much) + Gigabyte GA-P55M(or same class board) + 8gb Mushkin ddr3 1600 = 700ish with tax and shipping,

I think a nice P55, Core i5 650 and 4GB DDR3 running @ 2GHz!!

This is what I'm shooting for as soon as the i5 650 is out in January, $200 CPU that runs @ 4.5GHz on air on most boards.

Right now looking at getting a 5870 for graphics and using a GTX260 Core 216 Superclocked for PhysX, leaves me with one extra GTX260 for my son's PC or to sell..

p.s. Dirt 2 is a fun, nice looking game, like to see it in Dx11!
