This is a total mock thread, and in my mod days, it would have been deleted by moi. But we have moderators who have been calloused by all the crap and dont seem to care anymore.

Ah, such is life. The crap always floats to the top. Thank you, Seraph for coming through with one incontrovertible truth. The depravity of man.

Blue, you really see the apron as a slight?

The thread should be in another forum.

Seraph is possibly looking at the fish symbol, and interpreting it as meaning Christians. So is Skyblue.

In fact, we have no idea. Some chinese (likely) manufacturer thought it might be an interesting design. That's all.

Oh I know that's how at least Blue sees it, probably Seraph too. But if you just see it as a fish this is a soapbox posting right? Hence my suggestion.

Blue, you really see the apron as a slight?

Why do you think it's found in an atheist forum?
The fish symbol was one of the earliest symbol for Christianity, because the letters (in Greek) are an acronym for Jesus Christ. (ICHTUS).

SO the atheists there (and our resident soonet mockers) are delighting in seeing everything that stands for Christinaity falming on a BarBQ.

Seraph knows exactly what this means.

I guess it is all about perspective. I saw a stylized fish on a BBQ and no harm done. With your explanation I can see it as a dig but I still think it an attempt at humour, lame but an attempt none the less. Again I don't place the same value on the symbol as yourself and millions of others so I would see the humour as it was attempted.

I understand how it can be kind of meaningless and humorless to you.
But I guess that isn't the point. Whether it is a dig at Christians and their faith is the point. It is. Most definietly. That's why it's funny to Seraph and MiB.

If it were not, there would be entirely no point. It wouldn't even be funny..
That's why it was from an atheist's website.

And if I mined other websites to poke fun at other people's faith on here, the outcry would be pretty loud I imagine.

But I will not argue the point any further.

Just pointing out that Seraph has come a long way since he signed up on Soonet and made a big point of telling us how peaceloving and intelligent and perfect and christianly he was.. and how he was studying to be a Christian minister. Right....

Seraph can come at you from left field at times, I must agree. I can understand your discomfort if that's any consolation.

Nah, I enjoyed SkyBlue's dig at Seraph.

Then let that be proof that a title one claims (Christian) is not always descriptive of their beliefs.

Yeah it's true. Knowing where Blue's coming from on this I did smirk a little when he smacked Seraph upside the head.

I know the symbolism, but in all honesty, when I saw that sign on the apron all I saw was a kid's drawing of a fish. Made very little sense to me what it was about - why it would make anyone laugh and what it was doing in the religion forum. I still only see it as a rather gentle joke, but I also don't think it's my call.

It might interest you to know that for the first three centuries of CHristianity, the cross was almost non-existent as a graphic symbol of our faith. But the symbols that were used extensively were

the fish
the anchor (not so much)
a cluster of grapes
a loaf of bread, and a cup of wine
a lamb

These were all symbols taken from the gospels.
