I bought a good sized prime rib roast but need some help on how to cook it in my gas oven. How do you cook yours?

Rub with Montreal steak spice, 1/2 hour per pound at 350 degrees will give you a 'medium' done roast (ie. cooked through, but pink inside).

I lay celery and carrots on the bottom of an oven proof dish. Rub the roast with salt and pepper or your favorite spices. I then place it on top of the vegetable and cover with tin foil. Cook at 350 till thermometer reaches the proper temp. Remove from oven and let sit covered with tinfoil about 20 mins.
Rome's has digital thermometers that get put in from the start and beep when the roadst is cooked. About $8 and worth every penny.

If it is long enough cover one end with foil and let it cook. Starts out blue rare at the foil end and can be done plumb on the other.

My mother starts hers in a hot oven about 450 for 20 mins then turns it down to 325 for the rest of the cooking depending how you want it done. It makes a nice doneness on the outside while the inside stays juicy. Don't do it in a crockpot! Don't cook a prime rib to welldone!
