Yes, go to sunwing.ca
We went to a 3 1/2 star, all inclusive in Varadero and I was disappointed in the food and the resort wasn't clean like I've seen other resorts. The food is bland and if you love garlic, take some garlic powder along with you to shake on (discreetly lol) We were all suffering garlic withdrawls. There were still plastic cups in the pool and all over the pool area still at 7am from them blowing around from the pool bar. We had one waiter that was nice, all the rest of the staff seemed indifferent or rude to the tourists. The AC in our room wasn't working and no one came to fix it even after talking to the front desk a couple of times.
I'd only go 4 star at the minimum in Varadero area resorts. Staff, cleanliness, and especially the food, was MUCH nicer in the Cayo Coco area.

Thanks alot! I googled about Soo flights, but couldn't seem to find anything. We're looking at at least a 4 or 5 star, because of the issues you mentioned. I'd rather pay a bit more. I appreciate the tips. It's been awhile since I went to Cuba, and were in a totally different area. I've heard good things about Veradero.

been to cuba a couple of times....their 5 star is probably 3-4 everywhere else, fantastic seafood, red meat sorta bland but its a poor country,we've stayed at breezes veradero, and a great place in cayo coco, both resorts were good and clean. If you decide to go here to read about the resort, its pretty right on. http://www.tripadvisor.com/

Go Air Canada vacations and they will fly you Soo to Toronto for $100 return per person. I recommend Jamaica. Been to Cuba once and will never go again! http://www.aircanadavacations.com/
I'd recommend Mexico. You can go to the Mayan Riveria for not a lot more than cuba, Amazing Amazing place. I'd pay the little extra and go to mexico instead.

Thanks for all the input. It's still in the planning stages so Cuba isn't set in stone. I'll mentions Mexico to the girls and see what they think.

it sure is nice getting up in the morning at home driving to the soo airport, get on a plane and 3hrs later you are in cuba, then returning right back to the soo in the afternoon, home for supper, customs was a pain in the a$$ last year tho here, hopefully they've fixed that problem. If you end up going to veradero check out the flee market in town, and i suggest getting a horse drawn carriage and touring the town, there is alot to see.

After having been to Jamaica, I would go again and again. (and will be)
I've heard not so nice things about Cuba. Probably wouldn't go as a result.

I've been to Jamaica (loved it-good food, great people)and two times to Cuba. Varadero didn't impress us, but we loved Cayo Coco which is a beautiful island, but if you want to do a lot of sight-seeing it is an hour from the closest town. Very isolated, but great if you just want to sit on the beach (which is gorgeous) and relax.

we are going to Cuba in Feb. and are staying at a 4 star- Sirenis La Salina Varadero Beach Resort. I was in Cuba 20 years ago and was at the only resort on the island at the time (it was a 1 Star) and i had a fantastic time. It's all what you make of it, i meet great people down there and enjoyed the sun and sand.

My wife and I will be taking a vacation sometime in the near future; we were thinking somewhere nice.
Perhaps Garden River.
