Okay...I am looking at getting a new gaming system. I am undecided between a PS3 or an XBOX 360 or a PSP. A PS3 and a 360 are the same price right now at Futureshop. The only difference is, I can get better games included in the bundle if I get a PS3. A PSP is considerably less expensive but doesnt quite pack a the punch that a 360 or PS3 does. Any opinions?

PS3 250GB at Eb Games is $349 and comes with 2 pretty good games right now. Can't remember the games but call and ask. I also recommend PS3 as it plays blue rays as well.

Thanks for the info. Is that a special deal or is it a regular bundle? I was leaning towards a PS3. I had a 360 before and it got old quick. Ever since Modern Warfare 2 and NHL10 came out, I wanted a 360

I went with the Xbox360 as you can modify it to play your backup media. PS3 you can't.
I was initially going with a PS3 because of the blue ray. But since stand alone blue ray players are down to 150$ or less it does not really matter all that much anymore.

I guess it would come down to which console specific games you like best. If you like playing online, 360 is the way to go. More players. I have a PS3 myself.

I think it is a special bundle they have right now. I bought one last Thursday after my 3 day over 1 year old system took a crap after my kid updated it.

I am not sure if this is the same in the console world as it is in the computer world but I believe it is law for a 30 day grace period after the warranty has expired for repairs to be covered.

I have heard from friends that the PS3 network is inferior to XBOX Live. $60 is not a whole lot to spend for a year to play online. As for modding it, wont you get banned from XBL if you go online with a firmware mod?

The only console specific game I want right now is Forza 3, although I could live without it. MW2, Left 4 Dead 2, Rockband and NHL10 are not console specific.

I called Sony directly and was told I was SOL! So I sucked it up and went and bought a new one.

That really sucks. If thats the way Sony is gonna be than maybe I will just buy another 360.

How can you have a PSP in with the other 2 systems? I have a PSP and it's great but can't compare to the XBOX and PS3.

I myself think that the PS3 is the best all around console. Games, movies, music. I have many firends to play online with, or games will find players for you.

I just started streaming 720p and 1080p movies through my PC to the TV via the PS3 which encodes. Just a free program, PS3 media server, allows the PS3 access to all the media currently on all 3 of my networked PCs.

Right now I am backing up my PS3 to an external hard drive to ensure I don't loose any games saves or have to re-download all my Rock Band / Guitar Hero data ( currently at 44GBs).

I also used this handy feature when I upgraded my PS3 HDD from the stock 40GB to a 160GB (any sata 2.5 HDD works unlike the XBOX which requires a specific HDD which is severely overpriced). The 160GB cost me $40 and is allowing me to have as many demos, movies, music and pictures as I could ever want.

Another good reason is I am in a group of a few buddies who all share DLC content, which for the PS3 most data can be used on up to 5 systems. With four of us in a group sharing content, I still have one left in case of failure. I have never known anyone who had a PS3 fail. All I do is clean it with compressed air once a month.

I had a PSP in there because I am considering buying either a PSP, a 360 or a PS3. I know a PSP doesnt compare to the other two but I am not looking for a comparison.

Does anyone know if I recover my gamertag from a previous system, can I re-download the game I purchased from the marketplace and Rockband 1 songs along with DLC?

I use a WDtvLive to stream my network content to my tv.
I find the HD size issue depends on what you play. I have a couple of games installed on my xbox360, the rest I run of the DVD's as needed.

I have both and the 20 gig 360 is a pain in the butt. You can barely fit two games on the hard drive. The dvd drive sounds like a buzz saw so thats why i put the games I'm playing on the hd. I upgraded the PS3 to 320 gb. If I had to chose i would go PS3 for certain. The bluetooth works great with my keyboard and mouse and the superior blueray is better than any other dedicated player out there. If you go out and buy a cheap/ inferior blueray player plus a 360 you must include the price of both in your comparison. Lets not forget the network adapter for 60- 80 bucks for the 360.

I got the 60 gig 360, works good for me. I guess it all depends on what you want/need.
One thing to also keep in mind you might be moving your xbox/ps3 between locations, like camp and home for example. In such case an all in one solution is not the best approach.

Can you purchase a 60 gb drive on its own and if so how much?

I had a 20 GB 360 a while back and it didnt quite cut it. With the DLC I had from Rockband, Rockband 1 songs imported, and the ACDC track pack imported, I barely had space for anything else. Thats why I want an elite.

As for bluray, I am not too concerned about it. I dont have an HDTV nor will I be getting one anytime soon I dont think. I do have a question though. Can either console play burnt DVD movies?

I have only tried it on the PS3 and it works fine.

I don't see why it would not, as it can read backup discs just fine. With the 360 Verbatim DL 2.4 speed made in Singapore work the best, or so I read.
