OTTAWA (CBC) - Toronto police have issued a Canada-wide second-degree murder warrant for a 28-year-old man charged in a homicide in the city's east end on Saturday.

Police responded to what they originally believed was a hit and run at Terraview Learning Centre at 1641 Pharmacy Ave. at 3:11 a.m.

Officers discovered the body of Nanthi Eashan Dharmaratnam, 25, in the centre's parking lot.

After further investigation, police believe Dharmaratnam was deliberately hit by a vehicle. An autopsy on Sunday determined Dharmaratnam died from head and torso injuries.

Seran Kasilingam of Toronto has been charged with second-degree murder.

Kasilingam is described as five feet 11 inches tall, 230 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He goes by the nickname Kuttyshawn.

Det. Sgt. Frank Skubic of Torontos homicide squad said the two knew each other.

The suspect's vehicle is described as a blue 2005 two-door Chevrolet Monte Carlo with Ontario licence plate BFCJ 906.

"There is information to suggest Mr. Kasilingam has fled the jurisdiction and is still driving the Monte Carlo," Skubic said Monday. Police believe Kasilingam may try to dispose of the vehicle.

Skubic said body shops in the province should be on alert as Kasilingam's Monte Carlo might have damage.

Police said Kasilingam has friends in Montreal, Ottawa and Sault. Ste. Marie, Ont.

Anyone with information about Kasilingam or the incident is asked to call police's homicide division at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477.
