He's a 23 year old male, who was last seen in Hiawatha park at 4pm yesterday.

The cops were out searching the park today in full force with sniffer dogs.

They're resuming the search tomorrow, and the OPP is joining in with a helicopter.

There has to be more to this story. I don't think it's that unusual for a young guy to fall off the radar for a day. The cops must have reason to believe something happened to him.

Wow, usually when there's a missing person's report, they find them right away. It's been warm during the day, but downright cold at night. I hope he's safe somewhere, and this is some sort of miscommunication.

I knew him when I was younger, havent seen him in years or lately. Thats too bad, I hope he is alright. A lot of my friends know him well. One said she was talking to him a couple days ago. I know a lot of people who are going to be quite upset if something tragic happens. As someone said I hope its one of those "Joe turco found alive and well in the east end of town at a friends house" type deal.

there is a facebook group that is very up to date on this Man... pretty much as to say they started at 6 am.. they have thermal devices equiped today on helicopter, as well as they are looking for as many people as they can to help with the search for him... as well as sudbury search teams have come up as well to help..

I hope he is ok.. and just hidding, Id like to see a happy ending to this...

there are areas there that the trails are like spiderwebs and you can end up going around and around for hours

I was just reading the facebook page about this. His truck and his dog have both been found abandoned in the Hiawatha area. At first I thought he'd just gone off somewhere, but reading that his truck and dog were found there, gives real cause for concern.

I hope that they find this young man. Sending positive thoughts to his family and friends. :(

I wouldn't bring the kids up there Jackie because you just never know, but I am willing to bet at this point they are not letting people in there anyhow, they need to be very careful in their search and lettign a bunch of people who are eager to help yet untrained would not be very sucessful or productive for them.

I had a couple friends who went to look and were asked to leave as not to contaminate any possible evidence. It could have just been that particular police officer or it could be all of them but either way I would stay away and let them handle it. I wish I could help too, I dont know him well..at all really. He was an aquaintance (SP??) but I have a lot of friends who are really torn up about it. Just keep spreading the word and send energ/prayers out there.

from what Im hearing now they are allowing ppl on to look for him. Supposedly you have to sign in when you get there and sign out when you leave.

From what I know through his friends he does not have medical conditions, mental conditions,never disappeared before etc. He is supposedly a great dad and friend. No idea what happened to this man but it sure is strange

I think they should be on this right away! Dogs can be amazing.....that dog may lead them right to Joey.

Thoughts and prayers to the family. It has been 4 days, It was very very cold out last night. I don't know the kid personally but i thought a lot about him last night as i was awake listening t the howling wind and knew how cold it was out there. I got a very sick feeling.
With all the searching they have done and not being able to find him I think it is bad. I heard that today they are finally going to get the divers out there in the falls and other waters. They should of don't that a long time ago.

I was talking to one of his relatives on facebook and they have not done any water searches for him, they are suppose to be getting divers out there today.

If his cellphone is through Rogers it unfortunatly will not work out there which really sucks since Rogers newer cellphones have a built in GPS system that woudl have allowed the police to track within like 70 ft or something of him.

Oh no!!! Thats not a good sign. I heard from people at the college today that he was in an altercation at the bar that weekend. Maybe that has something to do with it? I dont know but either way I sincerely hope he is ok.

umm yeah there was no fight at the bar that is a rumour and people that were with him have already confirmed as much.

It is sooo easy to get lost up there! A friend and I were lost for three hours. Virtually nothing is marked, or at least is wasn't. Definitely some very rough terrain even for avid hikers in some areas. There have been wolves and a pack of coyotes in the area as well. Could be a number of reasons, I just hope they find him safe.

Joe is still missing and has not been found as of 9:45PM. This is confirmed. Some drama queen on Facebook posted something on the groups wall that his body was found. IT IS FALSE! She is just a drama queen. I just spoke to his Father who confirmed he has not been found.

I didn't know Joey well but I did know him from Korah. My condolences to everyone who is close to him. I lost a close friend a few years ago, and have lost several other acquaintances in the past years. You NEVER get used to hearing that news. It makes you realize just how fragile human beings are.

Thats the exact same situation as me. Very well said, no matter how many people you have lost you never get used to it and it never gets any easier. I pray that these family members and friends can move on the best they can. I didnt know Joey well but I know he would have wanted them to move on and be happy. I feel so bad for his child too..way too young to lose a daddy...

RIP Joey. Condolences to his family. My uncle was out with his step dad Rob last night searching. His stepdad just called to confirm about a hour ago it was him.


I dont know how his family is going to get through this. He loved his son so ,much and was such a god dad. So tragic. I dont understand why things happen like this to good people. Its not fair.
