Hey guys,

I have a couple month old toshiba laptop which I left running for a few hours. However, my friend tripped over one of the wires and the laptop fell (I don't know exactly in what position it fell because I wasn't there).

Anyways, now the monitor will shut off or blink a bit then shut off if I move it past 87-90 degrees. This makes it impossible to work on unless I have a monitor attached to it, which completely defeats the purpose of the laptop.

Do you guys happen to know what might be wrong? Do you know any specialists in town other than Futureshop? (I've had terrible experiences with them).

* Edit * Also, who else is tired of Shaw's internet shenanigans?

Yes, go see Blane at Mini PC. You've got a loose connection between the laptop and the screen. May need to be soldered.

Shaw's shenanigans were due to a fire that burned out part of their fibre optic trunk line into Northern Ontario.

If the laptop is still within warranty, you can call Toshiba, have your laptop sent in, and they will repair it. I would also neglect to mention the accident to your laptop. If you do mention the accident, they will charge you for the entire repair rather than just the shipping. If telling a white lie (or failing to mention all the details) isnt your cup of tea, you can get it fixed locally like NoCasa had mentioned. You will be charged for the repair though and if the laptop is serviced by someone not authorized by Toshiba to make repairs, it can void your warranty.
