Im trying to install a 3000 barton on a asus A7V8X motherboard.I already have a 2100 installed and works fine,but when i go to install the 3000 the computer starts but the monitor never boots up.Please help

Is your CPU a 333 or 400 bus chip as they made both. Your board I know does not support 400 bus. most Biases sent with that board could not run above a XP2800+ without a Bias flash.
Also do you know for 100% that the CPU is Good?

It should still boot up regardless no? My old Compac had a 700 Duron,and now has a XP 3200 in it.Runs fine but defaults to 11 X 100 for a grand total of 1100mhz(200 FSB)

not all boards will post chips. your Compaq is wasting that 3200. they were not truly designed to run the XP chips.

Try reseting the bios by either removing the battery or with the jumper.
