what kind of alcoholic drinks do you like, aside from beer? having some people over this weekend and looking for suggestions on what to serve, preferably coolers of some sort or really easy mixes

Woody's vodka coolers are now available in Root Beer flavour. For anyone that enjoys root beer, these are great!

I usually drink rye and water, margaritas on the rocks. I avoid the cooler type drinks.

I didn't like it. :(

I drink Bacardi Breezers (pina colada is my fav), or Appleton Estate rum with Diet coke!

Oh... I also derive immense pleasure from Amaretto and Diet Coke. IMMENSE pleasure. ;)

I'm a big fan of Margarita's of all flavours, but I particularly like the original lime, and I love Mojitos too. As for coolers, theres a newish one in a can called Palm bay, there are three flavours and they're all really good.

We are not big drinkers but when we are having get togethers and special occasions our fav's are toasted almonds. Its 1oz Amaretto , 1oz Kahlua ,2 oz's half/half cream and 1 ice cube. They are awesome.
Years ago my favorite was C.M. spiced rum and vanilla coke.

Go to Walmart and buy those pails they have, you can get lime magaritas, strawberry daquiris (sp), and pina coladas (each pail is around $10-$12), then you just need a small bottle of liquor to mix in, freeze it and voila...cheap, delicious, and extremely colourful "girly" drinks.
You get quite a few drinks out of each pail too!

According to my sister the ones she makes from scratch are better but these will do quite well in a pinch!:shade:

or you can just get a big straw, put the pail on ice and drink away!

Sailor Jerry with Canada Dry and a squirt of lemon juice...............tasty but not too sweet.
Sailor Jerry with Root Beer..............mmmmmm yum.
Or you can whip up Pina Coladas for the ladies in a blender. 1/2 can Coconut Cream (shake well before opening can), 2 litres Pineapple juice and two cups of rum, blend well, keep in fridge! Serves about 8
drinks depending on your glasses. They are the traditional taste with that creamy texture!
If you want any particular recipe, ask, I may have it handy.

How To Make A Freddy Fudpucker Cocktail

A deliciously, refreshing cocktail for all occasions. Oh Tequila, you make me happy! Savour our Freddy Fudpucker Cocktail.

Step 1: You will needUnits: Metric US Imperial UK Imperial

50 ml tequila
120 ml orange juice
15 ml Galliano
some Ice cubes
1 highball glass
1 spoon

Serves:
1
Preparation Time:
5 minutes
Cooking Time:
10 minutes

Step 2: Prepare your cocktail

First, almost fill the highball glass with ice cubes.
Next, measure out 50 millilitres of tequila - about a long splash - and pour it over the ice.
And then add 125 millilitres of orange juice. Or just fill the glass three quarters of the way up.
Step 3: Serve

For the all important finishing touch, pouring slowly and carefully over the back of a teaspoon, float 25 millilitres of Galliano on top of the drink, and serve

I really prefer Sleemans Draught with salt but on a hot hot day a couple of these put the starch back into your spine.

Mug Shot:
2oz Malibu Rum
root beer

Trojan Bomber:
1 oz Crown Royal
1 oz Jose Cuervo
1 can 7-Up
Tabasco sauce
Juice of 1/2 lemon or about 1 tblsp

Haven't tried them but they sound good. I believe that if you are having friends over, nobody really wants to spend the evening mixing drinks so simple is always good. Best is have it mixed and ready to go.
I've tried those buckets from the store that you mix and freeze but I found them so sickeningly sweet that I couldn't even finish my drink. They sound like a great idea but they sometimes taste pretty gross.
