Went to a newer restaurant on Gore Street this evening. Walked in and the girl said sit anywhere except for certain tables as they were reserved. We sat down for 15 minutes without anyone coming to the table at all! We were totally ignored the whole time. We walked out. Nice way to start a new business!

If you are talking about the restaurant that is a man's name that begins with the letter F, I was very impressed with their food and service. It was top notch as far as I was concerned. One waitress taking care of the whole place and she was very efficient.

There was a blonde young girl serving and there was maybe 4 or 5 people in the restaurant. She walked around puttering and cleaning tables and looked at us at least 5 times. It was rude and I'll be calling tomorrow.

I recall several very decent restaurants on Gore St. in the past. Not so sure what's there now but just because it's on Gore doesn't mean it's not any good.
It makes me ill to see some people put down a new business for any reason. If you have not been there BUTT out!!!No wonder people are reluctant to open a new business. I could care less what street it is on...I go for the food.
I haven't been there either, but have heard nothing but glowing reports from a few friends who say that its great.
Unfortunate that you had a less than stellar experience, perhaps it was just a bad night.

Aw you poor thing. 15 minutes is a long time. Of course that's the amount of time you have been on here writing this post and then commenting on the responses. Lets stop acting like your time is that important if this was the most important thing of your day.
PS nobody gives a rats anal cavity about your personal experiences at restaurants.

Years ago, Sorrentos and the Royal was on Gore St and were very popular fine dining restaurants. The Royal had the best steaks and prime rib in the Sault.
With this new restaurant, I say if the food and service is good, I don't care where it is either. I'd certainly call and let them know what happened and then give them another try. If they screw up again, shame on them, they won't stay open for long.

I went to said restaurant for lunch last Thursday. Good food with good service. Some people just seem to walk in with an attitude looking for a reason to get mad. Give them time, they just opened and its a small restaurant with very few staff, they have to start somewhere. With the new Fednor building opening up they may just get the traffic the last few restaurants couldn't get.

I would be miffed too having to wait over 15 minutes just to have someone find out what I would like to drink, especially when the waiter/waitress is screwing the pooch and looking at me but not making any effort to serve us. I would say something while I was there and get the problem solved though. It wouldnt stop me from going back unless it was a reoccuring thing.
I would have gone up to that waitress and asked why she was ignoring us. Perhaps she thought someone else had looked after you. There are 2 sides to this. It does not make any sense that this waitress would ignore on purpose. Lets hear THE REST OF THE STORY.
I agree with 7UP, perhaps something else was going on at the time

i agree, there are 2 sides. if it is the same young blonde waitress i think she is very young and inexperienced. i also think 15 minutes is a long time to be ignored and i would have also have been upset.

they said they wanted to keep lunch under 10. so the specials are around there, and supper about 15ish. but there is always burgers and handcut fresh fries. they said that everything is fresh and prepared by them in the place. definatly not snooty. they are 2 cousins or brothers, one is a bit shy the other more outgoing, but both are so nice. ask to talk to them if you go.

Loopy, very down to earth. Not snooty at all! I went there for the second time, tonight. My husband and I had fresh(caught today), whitefish with fresh cut fries. There was a problem with the pilot light in the oven when we were there so the meal took a bit longer, but one of the owners came out and gave us a complimentary appetizer while we waited. The waitresses were super friendly and hustled the whole time we were there. It was quite busy, so I'd say it's doing just fine. It's all fresh food. We chatted with the owner a bit after dinner and he said it was him and his cousin that owned it and it was their goal to try and make fresh, good quality food. So- two fish dinners, one appetizer that we paid for(not the free one), a coke and one desert came to $28. Very reasonable and a nice dining experience. Plus the decor is decent too.

As for being on topic. <sarcasm> 15 minutes? Wow. That's a long time.</sarcasm> If you were with someone, that would've been a great time to talk about their day, or their weekend or what not.
Morgan Freeman "RED" - Shawshank Redemption "The world went and got itself in a big damn hurry".
What happened to ever enjoying someone else company? 15 minutes is a great time to sit and chat and wait. If you were worried about the service, you could have asked. I highly doubt they were ignoring you on purpose.

It's not about the "fast food" its about prompt service. No one should have to wait 15 minutes especially when there were less than 7 people in there. I got faster service at Swiss Chalet when the place is packed.

15 minutes without being recognized as a patron is unreasonable. There may be circumstances we're not aware of but the bottom line is to make the customer feel it was a good experience if you want them to return or recommend the business to others.
There are always 2 sides of the story and we didn't hear the other side. I can't imagine the waitress walking around, puttering around and cleaning up without asking you for your order. I apologize if it did happen, but I just can't see it.

I think you people are missing the point. Its not unreasonable to wait 15 minutes if the staff are busy with other customers. It is rude however to walk by a table several times, notice customers are there and not go over and greet them and provide service. After all thats her job isnt it?
Yes, but why was the waitress doing that? She was obviously puttering around cleaning up thinking there was nothing to do. If I feel I've waited to long, I ask if we are getting served. There is always a reason.
I don't walk into a restaurant thinking that they owe me everything just because i'm a customer. I am human, they are human. I am not better than everyone and demand everything.

I would of been annoyed with that experience as well.
15 mins without awknowledgement of being there is bad customer service.
Its polite to greet your customers and even say " I will be with you in a minute" if your busy.
Your first impression is a lasting impression and one bad experience from a customer will travel through word of mouth.
Granted there will be times when it is busy and things go wrong, however its polite to even update the customer with an " I'm sorry about your wait time" These types of situations as a bussiness you can control.
Regardless if you can be sitting there talking to someone etc the point is that it is rude to walk by and have your customers wait leaving them the impression you could care less about their bussiness.
Personally I would of said " excuse me waitress can I have some assistance here please" and would not of left a tip.

What's wrong with the Husky for a date?
i don't even care if my other half takes me to mcD's for a date or whatever, as long as we are getting some 'quiet' time away from the kids and the conversation is good it really doesn't matter. if a girl needs to be taken out to a $50 meal to be happy then it might not be the guy she's with that she likes but the money he can spend on her, and if a man feels the need to spend big bucks to get a woman then he's trying to make up for lacking something and i can probably guess what that little something is.
