Just found out that this problem is ongoing, where I thought it was solved last year.

When calling certain phones FROM a Shaw (VOIP) phone you can't get throug to an extension. Sometimes the digits from your phone are not recognized at the other end, and you'll get a strange message, or no response at all.

Anybody having this issue??

Nope, ours is fine too.....except for all the phone calls from Bell trying to get us to go back to them. Too bad they weren't as eager and helpful when we were with them!!

Never had a problem either, just what numbers are you calling? ;)

Only when you call a business with voicemail on a Norstar (used to be Bell) phone system. That is, from a Shaw line to a Bell line.

Calling those sex hot lines will do it everytime. Check the MALES in your household...are they smiling?

Sounds like it might be that Bell system you have.

Just to recap, an ancient system will not work with new technology and it's the fault of the new technology owner?

I've had a problem with my cell phone recognizing a lot of those phone systems. Drive's me nuts sometimes.

I think you've got that backwards. The old, proven technology works. The new is having problems integrating it..
If you want to go with the new, you have too expect the problems that go with it!

probably your keypad on your phone having the issue, if it gives off the wrong pitch of tone, the other end wont recognize it, try using a different phone or borrow someone elses for a few minutes to try it.

Sounds like it might be that Bell system you have.

The irony is that a pulse type phone will still work, but now they have this weird problem.

When Bell went to VOIP for all their long distance, they hit this problem, which affected the phone systems THEY had sold for years. They fixed it, but companies like Shaw and Cogeco down south have not.

I think it's a problem with their business ideal. Bell was always good with business, Shaw with residential. A problem with a business line doesn't bother Shaw, and they're not necessarily all that helpful. In fact, a switch to a Shaw line for a business is a DOWNGRADE. Saves money, but missing features.

Which features is it missing?

Local Link is a very popular line package from Bell. One of the great things it does is allow you to transfer a call to another phone, like a cell, and free up your line. Like three way calling, but one step further. Very handy for small businesses with only one line.

Shaw COULD do it, but they don't want to spend the money up here for the equipment.

I thought the phone servers did that, not the provider?

I just moved and was forced to go full Bell grrr. My internet sucks, my bill is about $2k a year higher, and I get to "Hurry up and wait"!

Nope, it's the provider. The "server" can make use of the feature, if it works.
