Here is the schedule for this year's championship.
It's starts for Canada at 4pm today against Russia.
The Canadian games can be watched on TSN.ca or TSN mobile.
The USA is defending champs and home team and is the pre tournament favourite.

Good opener against Russia.
Head hunted a little much in the first and second, but played well in the third.
The Russians were going in second by the end of it, ha, ha, ha!
Not the familiar names as other years, IMO Team Canada will be fine!
Special teams were quality, with 3 pp goals and some great pk!
I'm guessing there will be a goalie change for Canada.
Next up, Canada vs Czech Republic Tuesday at 3:30pm et on TSN/TSN.ca/TSN Mobile.

Really impressed with two D-men so far: Justin Faulk of Team USA, and Ryan Ellis of Team Canada.

I find that the world juniors has some of the best hockey every year. But I guess that's also why I love NCAA more than NBA and NFL. Everyone is trying to prove themselves. As for the Canadian team I was surprised at how fast they were for their size.

Good enough to get you silver last year. :)

And the all time Gold Medal Wins!
Since 77...USA 2, Canada 15!
I even let the other 15 wins go as they were not part of the tournment, pre 77.
If the USA is the new hockey power, than why don't they show up much in this tournment?
The success they have enjoyed is spotted with big gaps in between them.
This is not the sign of a developing hockey power past or present!
The mention of it is always good for a laugh.

2000 is 11 years ago.
Each year there are 3 medals available, that's 33 not 30...my bad!
Out of the 33 available and 11 being the most any 1 team can win, the USA has won 3!
Come on man, if we're gonna do this, you have to at least know your own stats!
I guess I've been right saying, you don't know, you don't know!
And, just so ya' know, Canada has medaled every year since 2000 with 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze!
I should be charging you for this........

I've got no problem with any player's decision on where they will play, if they have a choice.
It's a personal thing, but most times it's about ability or lack of.
In Nick and Brett's case, it was lack of ability that held them off Team Canada.
I don't remember him as a threat in junior...ha, ha, ha!
It wasn't till later in Hull's career that he acquired his scoring prowess.
At that point, had he switched, he would look worse today, than he already does!

It makes them the best. When you are champion, you are declared the best. Toronto has won many Stanley Cups since its inception but are they even close to being the best? Not even close! Just because a team has won several championships, even consecutively, doesnt make them the best. Right now, USA is the team to beat until another team wins the gold.

My brother would always get to it first and I'd be left with nothing. One day I got it first. He says ya well I had it more times than you. We are arguing because Jack cannot come to the conclusion that Canada is not always the best in hockey. Sometimes Canada will be on top and sometimes they wont. It doesnt matter how many medals you have won or how many times you have won the Stanley Cup. The only thing that matters is who won it last. Right now the US is on top and as a Canadian, I can only hope that Team Canada tries its best.

You have to get your face off the page and back up to see the big picture.
Whether Canada wins or not they are always on top in the big picture, there is no denying it.
USA results of 3 out of 11 is .27%. Canada medal record is 11 out of 11, that's 100%.
If you think .27% is better than 100%, you just don't get it!
You have the best and defending champs confused.
How many times you've won is the definition of the best.

Looking at the bigger picture, I would agree that Canada is the best if their team had stayed relatively constant. Since almost every year the team has been quite different, you cant conclude that Team Canada is always the best unless they win. USA might have a lower score differential, but that just means they didnt beat a nobody team as bad as they could have. Look at their game vs Germany and Canada's game vs Norway. We destroyed them and US only beat them 4-0. Tonights game will decide who is the best.

The U.S. is large enough in population that hockey can be a very popular sport regionally, but as a national sport, it barely registers on the radar (though there are some hopeful signs this may be changing a bit).

Most NHL franchises are in the U.S. because, well, the NHL wouldn't really be a "big league" if they had franchises in Sarnia, Peterborough, Sudbury, etc. Again, it's all about hockey's regional appeal in the U.S. Even if only 10% of Americans are hockey fans, that still comes out to 33 millions fans, or almost the equivalent of every single Canadian being a fan. And while hockey is big in Canada, it isn't that big.

Junior hockey fans are in an even-less enviable spot in the U.S. It is a subgroup of the regional group; in other words, pretty small.

Come on man....your brutal!

Here's the Shattuck staff.https://www.s-sm.org/ftpimages/131/misc/misc_69901.pdf

I see two Canadians, one is just the u-16 coach, the other a goaltending consultant.

However, among all the Americans running the best prep hockey program in North America, I see a guy who played his junior hockey in Soo, Mich, plus played for the Lakers in the CCHA for a few years, Adam Nightingale.

Ohhh...wait, there is another Soo, Mich connection: John LaFontaine!

so it's obvious the Shattuck program is pretty much all-American. And the two Canadians on-board should be given credit for not falling for Jack's type of jingoism, and knowing where the best prep hockey program in all North America is.

When are you guys going to learn?
In typical style, and for the tenth year in a row, Canada advances to the Gold Medal game!
Canada made a favored american team, that was built for this year and defending champs look average.
The only guy that showed up for the americans was Campbell or it would have been ugly!
Man...the usa is a one dimensional team! That makes it rough on the wall!
That's a OHL game basically, nothing up the middle...everything up the boards!
Good luck against the Sweds and with that .27% chance of medalling.

Complete domination.
The Canadians took the Americans in every aspect of the game. They were faster, much stronger, much better at handling the puck. Outshot the Americans 41-23. The scoring chances were completely one sided in favour of the Canadians.
The only player that the Americans had was Campbell, the rest were beaten down and ran like the defenders of Washington D.C. did during the war of 1812.
Bring on Russia.

The Canadians are faster and out skated and out checked too. But what the Canada does the best is win games along the boards.

If you can't go straight down the center then there is only one other thing.......bust them along the boards and keep them on the outside.

Canada did all that and did you see that cycling......wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!:star:

Well, it appears the chirping has stopped...for now!
It is interesting what happens when the going gets tough!
You gotta want it and Canada showed the USA what that means.
Like a deer in the headlights usa basically froze on the big stage...their big stage!
They couldn't take the pressure and folded like a cheap card table.
I wonder how it felt for the usa to experience that kind of Canadian dominance in their barn.
When do you see the visting team with home ice advantage?
We'll see what kind of character or lack of character the usa has in the bronze medal game.
The Russians are our true rival and is fitting to meet them for the gold.
Canada has the 4-3 advantage in Gold Medal games.
Work hard...be humble and good things will happen!

Funny how the loss last year to the US spelled the demise of Canadian hockey and this year the US drubbing is just from a tourney that nobody cares about.
RWGR is becoming a caricature of himself.

Sorry, but you are misreading the situation.

The US win last year wasn't a big deal because it was in some tournament no one knows about, it was a big deal because it shocked an entire country, and made the USA enemy number one when it comes to hockey.

It was a big deal because what it did to the Canadian psyche (already a wounded soldier, to be sure).

All it did was wake the Canadian psyche up, we had become complacent after winning 5 times in a row.
What is the longest winning streak in this tourney for the US again?
The Americans just woke up a sleeping giant, and it stomped on their heads.

Wow, what a stinger!
What amounts to the biggest collapse in WJHC history, Canada's wheels came off and they skidded to stop.
Leading 3-0 after 2 periods, Canada surrendered 5 unanswered goals in the third.
A little tough to watch, no question, but we still had a ticket to the dance.
Being a bridesmaid again sucks, so second will have to do.
The Russians found another gear. That was quite a skilled team as it turns out.
They had a slow start to the tournement, but won 3 huge games in a row!!
I say well done, good is good and tonight the Russians...were good!

“It was sad to see, really, because the Canadian lads had played so well, and comported themselves so well, and invited the entire country to celebrate the sport with them in unprecedented fashion.

But you can’t arrogantly tell the world you play only for gold and then be surprised when some take pleasure in your downfall. Make no mistake about it, that will be happening today.”

Not at all. Here's why:

We don't measure who we are on one sport. We don't live and die by sport. We don't brag and brag, and claim "(insert here) is our game!!"

You make such claims of braggadocio then you better damn well be ready to have people celebrate when you fall flat.

You claim hockey is your game, you better be ready to live with sucking it up when you can't meet your own standards.
