Is there a setting in my computer somewhere that is causing this to happen? Everytime I try to view videos online (soonews, youtube etc...) The video always stops at 40 seconds and won't play the rest of the video no matter what I try. How can I fix this? I have a 1 year old Sony VAIO laptop running Norton Internet Security.

I am not sure, but I would point towards Norton. I personally hate anything Norton because it's so bloated with "features" it usually ends up not working properly.

For the last 3 years Norton has been one of the least bloated and uses less resources than just about every other software maker.
Mine using a nasty old 10mb right now.
I'm not saying it might not be Norton, it's just that I's start looking at other things first.

Do you empty your temporary internet files periodically? If they are over full, your computer can have trouble buffering the videos.

Eset Nod 32 uses 1% - 2%. Kaspersky Uses 3% - -4%. Norton will use 70%+ when it's running anything. It's notorius for being crap. I personally NEVER recommend Norton to customers who come in to Staples. I always point them in the direction of the first 2 I mentioned. They're the best in my books.

I'm leaning towards a corrupt(ing) flash player. Try downloading it again from adobe.com
