I'm going tonight at 8 does anyone have any advice? I really really don't want to go and am nervous. I've actually cancelled once already. I just think it's creepy to have someone watch and listen to me sleep.
08-07-2007, 05:04 PM
Its not so bad Tippi..
Bring a book and comfomy pj's ( two piece) that can be easily accessed for the wiring they do to you. I wore a set that was like shorts and a top.
Maybe bring your favourite pillow too if ya have a hard time sleeping. I did have issues with sleeping because i was uncomfortable about the camera too and they gave me something that made me doze off...
I am not sure if you can request the bigger bed or not but give it a try. I was in a single and not used to that and maybe why i could not sleep??
The nurse was very nice too. Mention soo net to her /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Sounds like good advice to me. If you have to get it done, better to just go and get it over with. Good luck!
08-07-2007, 05:13 PM
Try your best to be very tired when ya go.. no caffine or naps today.. I have to go back because I did not sleep enough for them to try me on the machine /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif I am waiting for another appointment
08-07-2007, 05:20 PM
Yep no nap for me today. I'm still taking my percs so they make me somewhat sleepy so that's good to. I'm worried I'll get there and not be able to fall asleep. I think it sucks!!!! I can't remember any of the pre stuff. Is there anything I need to do or not do before I go? I really want to bring my pillow but think that would be stupid. Did you bring yours? Also I don't sleep in p.j.'s I don't sleep in anything, so not sure what I'll do about that.
08-07-2007, 05:23 PM
Bring your pillow. I would. And sleep naked. It will be fun! lol
08-07-2007, 05:24 PM
/ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif I usually don't sleep naked with people I've just met.
08-07-2007, 05:24 PM
Could make for good dreams!!! Maybe you will moan in your sleep?
08-07-2007, 05:33 PM
You should see some of the dreams I have. It could be embarrassing. I'm seriously worried. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif
08-07-2007, 05:36 PM
LOL Don't worry. You'll be fine. I think Babzz gave ya the best advice-she's been through it! It isn't gonna help to worry about things that are likely not to happen.
08-07-2007, 05:39 PM
Tippi don't worry about dreaming or talking in your sleep. My friend went and she was having nightterrors all night and scared the guy a few times throughout the night. She made him jump several times that night and woke up others that were there. I believe she brought her own pillow and small blanket as well. She has many hangups and she managed to fall asleep. Best of luck!

So some people you don't know discover you are a "midnight didler"... just give em a good show /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
08-07-2007, 05:41 PM
"midnight didler"? LOL That's a little different than a DREAM.
I have woken myself up with laughing sometimes. I also make weird sounds some nights and have woken myself up.
08-07-2007, 05:47 PM
The midnight diddler isn't far off from what has gone on sometimes. I'm telling you it could be very embarrassing. Maybe I shouldn't bring my pillow. I don't want to get too comfortable. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif

08-07-2007, 07:04 PM
I don't want to go I'm gonna miss Big Brother. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cry.gif
You need to go!
I know your nervous but you'll be fine. Go and get it overwith. You might find out whats causing your "trouble".
That would be nice, especially for your travelling companions.
08-07-2007, 07:42 PM
there's a tv in the waiting room tippi- you can watch it there.
I took a client there and spent the night with her there once. The most uncomfortable part for her was trying to sleep with all the wires. the rooms and beds look very comfortable and the nurses are nice. I know they provide a cot in some of the rooms so if you are really nervous, why dont you call and ask if your husband can come with you? that would put you at ease im sure.
08-07-2007, 07:48 PM
/ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif ya, ya I know!
08-07-2007, 08:40 PM
Ok bye!!!!!! /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cry.gif don't have too much fun without me.
08-07-2007, 08:42 PM
If you dream a lot, I may be wrong, but I think it means you are getting REM sleep, which is the good kind..
I lost some weight, and am finally off of my CPAP machine.. I found almost the exact weight where the apnea comes back.. so for me, it's clearly weight related.
Just close your eyes and sleep, it's very easy to do.
08-07-2007, 09:50 PM
I had that done a few yrs ago...the hardest part is trying to get comfy with all those wires they have hooked up on you. I was suppose to get the CPAP machine but I never did, Im closterphobic (sp) and there is no way I could sleep with that thing on my face. I sleep fine as far as I am concerned, lol.
Good luck Tippy...let us know how it went.
08-08-2007, 09:16 AM
Well I'm home!
It was a little difficult sleeping with all the wires but I manage to do it.
Apparently I have sleep apena bad enough that they ended up putting a machine on me half way through the night. I guess everything was fine after she put the machine on. The doctor said this morning that my oxygen levels got really low and that wasn't good that it was a high risk for heat attack etc. You'll be happy to hear Ma03 that I didn't snore after that. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif
I did have a hard time sleeping because of my leg pain so now I've taken 2 percs and I think I'll be taking a nap as soon as they kick in.
Oh yeah and the nurse there was AWESOME! /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
08-08-2007, 09:27 AM
yeah they say that to most who go there its a great business, selling these machines
08-08-2007, 09:30 AM
Glad to hear it went well and that there is something available to help you!! Welcome back and have a good nap.
08-08-2007, 09:33 AM
Thanks. I can't wait until the pain meds kick in and then I'm crawling back into my bed. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif I'm fairly excited about it. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif

Yeah tell that to Ma03 since she is the one who I travel with the most, never mind my husband who sleeps in a different bedroom . I'm sure they'll be happy that the machine stops my snoring. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif
08-08-2007, 09:48 AM
My brother used too snore so loud he could wake up the niegbours. He had apnea and suffered many heart attachs starting in his thirties.. He ended up having a triple bypass in this late 40's. He passed away at 60 from a massive heart attach.
the machine is a good thing Tippi!!
If he would have gotten his sleep machine earlier he most likly would have been with us longer and with less issues
08-08-2007, 09:53 AM
I think I'll go later this afternoon and check them out.
08-08-2007, 09:58 AM
Believe me that woman SNORES! I snore too, I'm told, but wow tippy's snoring has gotten worse in the last year.
Hopefully the machine will help you and you'll feel better too.
I'm glad you went!
08-08-2007, 02:43 PM

08-08-2007, 02:46 PM

08-08-2007, 03:53 PM
The last birthday party I ever had was I think I was 7 or 8. lol
08-08-2007, 04:01 PM
Ma03 and I have a "little" birthday party every year because our birthday's are 2 days apart. If it wasn't for that I don't think I would celebrate my birthday either.
08-08-2007, 04:02 PM
Thats nice that you both can do that.
08-08-2007, 04:03 PM
It is nice.
Ya it is nice. We spend it together every year /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/beerchug.gif

good luck tomorrow, Tippi.

it kinda sucks sleeping with the machine for the first little while, but you get used to it.. its hard to not breath out your mouth at all at first.. i used to have to strap my mouth closed so the machine could do its thing, but not im good to go.. crawl into bed, and throw the thing on.. i feel alot more rested in the mornings... its nice to feel like i slept. its an almost over night change to, good luck with the machine.. and make sure you pick a mask that you are comfortable with.. the first one is usually covered, but the rest arent. at least for a year i think.
08-09-2007, 12:28 AM
Thanks for the tips. I will make sure I try them all on. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif
08-09-2007, 11:00 PM
Ok I went and picked up my machine today. Was there 3 freaking hours getting info and fitted, it was only suppose to take an hour. So I will try it out tonight but I have to say I'm really not looking forward to it.
Any other tips anyone can give me for my first night?

My father has sleep apnea so I understand the seriousness of this. It was strongly recommended to him that he get one of those emergency back up power packs. The prices range from less than 100 dollars to several hundreds of dollars but this would be vital in case of a power failure..
08-09-2007, 11:10 PM
Yeah the guy and I talked about that today as well. I'm going to just try this out and then take it from there. I don't want to get too overwhelmed at first.
08-11-2007, 11:49 PM
Unless its for lifesupport I dont think i'd invest in a battery backup.
is it working ??
08-11-2007, 11:55 PM
Apparently I am no longer snoring but I am still getting use to it. So I guess it's working or doing it's job for me.
Last night was better then the first.
08-11-2007, 11:57 PM
Are you feeling more rested?
08-11-2007, 11:58 PM
08-11-2007, 11:59 PM
But it was only 2 nights so I think it will take more getting use to at first. I also have my major back/leg pain that keeps me up at night when the percocets wear off so it's going to be really hard to tell.
08-12-2007, 12:01 AM
my brothers machine was soo loud and he looked like the elephant man when wearing it. I hope they are made a bit better now?
08-12-2007, 12:03 AM
No not comfortable /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif but not too loud, but yes you still look bad. Your not going to turn anyone on in the bedroom with that head gear on. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/lol.gif
08-12-2007, 12:06 AM
I sleep alone so no worries bout scaring anyone except my cat /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
I have no machine yet. I have to go back for another sleep study /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif
08-12-2007, 12:09 AM
Yeah I sleep alone too....well that's not really true. I have 3 cats and a dog that sleep with me.
When do you go back?
08-12-2007, 12:12 AM
I am waiting for a Cancellation .. no date
Just kinda waiting for them to call me
08-12-2007, 12:13 AM
OH well good luck.
08-12-2007, 12:14 AM
hoping I get the double bed this time so I can sleep a bit better lol
Sure do not want to have a third visit with them
08-12-2007, 12:21 AM
NO kidding! Dr. Berg did tell me that they were opening up 3 more beds and getting double beds in. I rated the bed badly on my costumer survey thing and he asked me why. I told him they were too damn small and he said he knows and that they were getting some doubles in. So hopefully that will happen for when you have to go next.
08-12-2007, 12:30 AM
A tv in the room and its a home away from home then /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
I forgot to fill out that survey thing
08-12-2007, 12:34 AM
Well you can do it next time your there.
