Betty Fox, mother of Canadian hero Terry Fox, has died. Definitely a loss as she became somewhat of a hero in her own right. She earned the admiration of a nation as she fought to not only protect Terry's legacy but continue it. I'm not sure the annual Terry Fox Run would still be in existence let alone have grown to what it is now. Canadians around the world organize runs each Sept. raising millions of dollars for cancer research. One only has to remember the reception she got as one of the Olympic flag bearers at the opening ceremonies in Vancouver to know the love and esteem which is accorded her.

May she rest in peace.... and joy as she is reunited with her beloved son.

She was originally to be one of the people to light the flame, but they thought she would be too weak to do it, so they had her help carry the Olympic flag. She was a real mom.

I agree with everyone. Betty Fox was the greatest.
