A West Virginia man is suing McDonald's for $10 million after he claims he suffered an allergic reaction to a cheeseburger.

The fast-food giant has been sued before. In 1992, a jury awarded 79-year-old Stella Liebeck of Albuquerque, N.M., nearly $3 million in damages after she suffered third-degree burns from a spilled cup of coffee.

I am going to burn my hand right now and will only ask for 1 million!

I think Speedy needs a job. Maybe he's been off all summer. hmm, could it be he really is RWGR, the teacher who had every summer off?
I wonder..

What was the allergy I wonder? If it was nuts and they did not post it they are liable. But I understand your point. People sue for the dumbest things now-a-days!!

I am not sure, but I don't think the US puts caps on suing either. Canada does.

Maybe I could become a Protestant minister that uses children involved with sexual abuse to score some cheap point on a bulletin board?

Or, maybe I can go online and tell people I read a eight hundred page book, twice, in two languages?

What do you think, Aydeloof?

As for Speedy, I'm not sure how you think I could be him. He actually liked and respected you, didn't he?

You're not sure, and you're wrong.

There are caps.

Be nice birdy! I said I wasn't sure which means I could have been wrong. I must have better self esteem than you because I can take being wrong. I can also apologize and admit when I do not know something. I can also admit that I love being a Canadian but that Canada does have issues it can improve on.

Now back to this topic...

They must be pretty high though. People sue for stupid amounts of money over things that don't deserve it.

Winning 3 million for third degree burns on her hand? 3 million!!! That is nuts.

What should she have won, a band aid and medium-sized happy meal?

500,000 - 1,000,000 would be plenty.

By what standards? What criteria?

I agree there have been some crazy rewards in the past, that is what started the ball rolling on serious litigation reform. But who decides 'what is enough'?

Methinks thou doth protest too much. Let's get off the sexual abuse crap already.

That last part is odd, posting as Speedy.

Darn, you are sharp! I thought that one would slip by, and no one would catch it. Actually, if they want me to be Rwgr, I'll be him, no problem.

As for the sexual abuse, you need to remember it was Aydeloof who brought it up in an extremely juvenile attempt to make some theological point.

I mean, come on now. For a minister of a church to do that is so pathetic, so beyond the pale, that it boggles the mind people actually attend his church. It is so unprofessional that one can scarcely comprehend what it takes anymore to be a minister of a Protestant church.

I would say it depends on the extent of the damage. did her car crash as a result of this and she needed to be hospitalized? or did she just ruin her dress? did she have to miss work due to the traumatic occurance? ect...

You bring up an interesting point. Both voices in my head are currently debating your theory as I type.
