Any respect I ever had for Sydney Crosby is rapidly leaving.

Get off the pot or s-h-i-t Syd, .... I think he is just going to wait until his next hit to use it as an excuse to pack it in, or maybe hope the NHL will initiates the "lets don't hit our Golden Goose" rule to protect him, ....

It's hard to judge the situation.

I do know it's sad to see athletes dying young.

He has been participating in full practice for some time now, and doesn't wear the "do not hit" white helmet anymore, ..... if Pittsburg wasn't near the top right now, would he be playing?

Go back to sleep granny, .... 7 million? Marketing-wise he is worth far more, personally he is worth far less. It is no one's choice but Crosby's as to when he will play. He could walk away now and live happily ever after. He is just weighing the situation to see how much more is in it for Sydney. Do you think he does those soppy Tim Horton commercials for the love of the game?, ..... everything he does is for Sydney.

I won't be-grudge him this action as that is the nature of the beast, but I also don't blindly idolize him as you do. I have worked on enough WSIB cases (which, BTW, this situation actually mirrors) to know when someone is "fudging" it. Post-concussion syndrome is sport's equivalent to fibromyalgia (sp?), .... something that is just mis-understood enough for the slackers to grasp onto for a free ride.

I'm not into conspiracy theories but I believe Sydney Crosby is a woman. Maybe even a girl. Her goal when entering the league was to make the game as lame as possible. Take out fighting, take out hitting, replace the puck with rings and replace locker rooms with powder rooms. Do you really think he has a concussion? I think it's a logical way to cover up a maternity leave.

Let's go Red Wings!!!!!

Leave it to the cat to figure out what we humans couldn't solve.

As for your Wings, they better expedite their building process before they start looking like the rest of the league.

The wings have the best building process in the league. They don't have the luxury that teams like Pittsburgh, Chicago and now Edmonton had.... Several years of top draft picks.

Over the last 2 decades their scouts have proven to be the best in the league. They have pulled more talent out of the later rounds then others were able to in the earlier rounds.
They were also able to nurture and develop some of these players into some of the leagues best.

Didn't realize that working on a few WSIB cases qualified you as a doctor or even better a neurospecialist....WOW if only the rest of the doctors knew all they had to do was work on a few WSIB cases and they would be all knwoing. Head injuries and concussions are very serious and once you have one you are quite easily able to get more or be the victim of another so I do not blame Crosby or ANYONE for being cautious. But since we have few doctors in this town....can you tell me where your practice is since it seems that you are all knowing?

Let's go Red Wings!!!!!

Did you watch the game where he got the concussion. I did .....And i KNEW immediately he had a concussion....He obviouslly didn't even know what planet he was on. I was surprised by all the comments that followed that game and I maintained he was hurt then he played part of another game and left then they decided he had a concussion. It was about time. There was no doubt even to a NON EXPERT that he was a hurtting unit. After you go through something like that you never want it to happen again so I can appreciate the caution. HOwever there were many mistakes made 1)Crosby head down he should know better 2)not that it would change the outcome but the guilty party didn't even receive a penalty just a warning. If the ref felt a warning was justified than a penalty should have been given. 3)after reviews still no penalty or suspension was given even though it was a clear head shot. 4)Crosby was allowed to finish the game and pushed to go out on the ice. Many people complained he was slow to react slow to get out on the ice during line change. Yeah well if you don't know who you are or where you are of course that will happen 5)He was cleared to play the next game? someone dropped that ball 6)crosby let pride interfere with his physical well being denying he was injured

Now people are hoping we do not have another Eric Lindros on our hands. Concussions can and does end a carrer just ask Lindros. He was never the same. Highly doubt that was something that he graspped onto for a free ride. (SLACKER?) You don't get to the top and being an elite athlete by being a slacker! Slackers don't make it to where Crosby is. I am not a HUGE fan of Crosby but someone in this thread is way off base.

As for women not wanting fighting or hitting in the game you couldn't be more wrong. Im sorry why would you think that a woman wouldn't want those things. I am a woman and the best part about the hockey game is the physicalness of it. I got mad at the last greyhound game and yelled out "Theres more hitting in womens hockey" had people in my section laughing. I am the first person that will say there needs to be more hitting. SO why do you make radical comments such as those. Maybe Crosby doens't want to see someone else go through what he has. That is understandable. But being that he is in the profession he is in he also has to realize there are risks. I work in a certain field that I know I am at risk for things to happen and there are policies in place to minimize that risk but it will never be risk free. He chose this profession and he has to deal with the risks or get out. That said some changes do need to happen to ensure everyone is safe.

Back in the day there were fewer head injuries for many reasons and even when the players didn't wear helmets. WHy?
1)Respect for each other (players didn't TRY to hurt each other)
2)Equipment: with the development of new equipment comes different issues. Back in the day the pads were soft, now with trying to protect the person wearing them they are hard plastic this doesn't take into consideration that the person on the receiving end of the hit is going to get the hard plastic in the face or head.
3)Faster ice yes doesn't sound like it should be but the game is played at a faster pace, do to skates, training, ice conditions, if your speed is faster the momentum is going to be harder.

Those are just a few.
