It's been a really long time since I've seen a Shaw phone thread here and it's been available for a couple years. I've been called by Shaw about a promotion they have on right now. I'm wondering how everyone's experience has been with Shaw phone. It looks like a money saver, but does anyone have regrets? Anyone miss their Bell service. I'll be very grateful for all responses.

I've had it 2 years and it has never let me down other than the short life of the battery back-up during a power failure. I believe it lasted about 4 hours before I lost my phone service. Otherwise it offers me all the features I want for a good price with good sound quality.

I had it about 4 years ago and it was very unreliable. Switched to Bell and I have since gone back to Shaw again. Have had it now for about a year and a half and have only had a problem once. The same problem I had before- no dial tone, dead. Luckily it resolved itself in about an hour, because when I called Shaw, a recording said it would take 2 hours to answer my call, but I could press a button and get a call back instead of waiting.

I have had it 3.5ys and I have not had any problems.. Its been down dont get me wrong, but its very far and few times.. the way I see it is 99% of people have cells, so If I absolutly have to call them for tech service I wait till after six when My cell is free... In 3.5yrs I can count on one hand the amount of problems I have had.. as far as Im concerned hell will freeze over before I ever go back to bell

My only complaint with Shaw is that, on business lines, they don't offer the same features.

As long as we are on the subject. Here is a conundrum i just recently encountered..When i call my mom who has bell with my home phone, It goes straight to voice mail, but if i use my koodoo cell phone I can get through if she is home or it rings a few times and then goes to voice mail. by the way, I have shaw.any idea why it would do that?

had it 2 years - love it. would never go bell. if your internet still works and you have issues they also offer online chat. sometimes it's faster than waiting on a phone to get through.

I got an offer I couldn't refuse - 6 months Shaw Phone @ $1 a month and 1 year free long distance anywhere in North America, anytime. I figured if I had problems, I could always switch back. So far, so good.

I gotta give my vote to Vianet phone
I've had it for 6 years without a single issue
$17.50/month includes, caller id, voicemail, call waiting, call forwarding, call block, 3way calling

Shaw has called me about 6 times to convince me to switch, and they can't offer me the features that vianet does for 17 bucks

They also provided me with 1-800 service with no monthly fee, so my daughter could call home from anywhere when she was stationed at CFB in Cold Lake Alberta

I switch to Shaw from bell with the same features except bell long distance is 5 cents per minute while shaw is 4 cents.

Bell was $38 per month while Shaw is about $25 for my sevices. Bell offered to match shaw rates for 12 months before raising it back to there rip off rates once more,I though the bell rep guy was out of his mind.

Thanks everyone. The deal I was offered was free phone for a year then 24.95 per month. I asked for a sweetener and they offered free long distance in North America for the year. Sounds like a no brainer, but Bell has been ok for me and I didn't want to save money on something I wouldn't be able to depend on. I think I'm sold.

I only had one problem with my phone since it has come out, and that was quickly fixed over the phone, I would recommend it to anyone.

Dam.... who do I gotta blow to get that?
I agree Shaw is awesome, love them, I have very few problems with them, have had the interwebs since they got it out, and I can count on one hand how often it went out or slow. Phone, same deal, haven't had a problem with it yet.

Hard to believe there are still bell land line customer in the Sault. Shaw is $15 less a mouth and the service is the same with cheaper 4 cent per minutes long distance rates vs Bells 5 cents. It just a no brainier. You even keep your same phone Number.

Seems to me, as a phone guy, that Shaw came out of the home side of the business, where Bell was always more concerned about the business side. So their attitudes are very different.

I've had Shaw miss sales because their biz side was so slow in sresponding to requests. They also don't offer the same services as Bell, some of which are VERY handy for the business client.

I personally now use Shaw, and I'd promote Shaw a lot more to business if they offered the same features.

There will be one less after Friday. Bell has been costing me about $70 per month once the features I never use are costed in. Plus I pay $22.95 for a Distributel unlimited long distance plan. That's getting close to $100 per month.

Shaw is offering phone for a year, free long distance for a year and free features for the year. They are also tossing in a free broadband internet upgrade for the year. After the year is up, phone costs $24.95 per month with 4 cents a minute long distance.

I should have switched long ago, yet this is apparently the best offer to switch they've ever made. Simple math tells me I'll be saving enough for a good chunk of a nice vacation just by switching.
