"Not only is he wise but he is smart. He understands the importance of serving in the public domain without trying to 'slip in the Gospel.' Instead he lives the Gospel. Again, that is what makes him authentic."
great news for ontario...

And if those very same words were said about a Catholic in the higher echelons of power in the U.S. you'd be birthing a litter of kittens right now.

If it was a guy like Kennedy, probably. Not exactly a shining example of morality.
Im sure there are lots of Catholics in the upper echelons of the USA. But the media doesnt tell us.

Like other people who are in the public eye daily...like Jimmy Swaggart and Jim Baker...

It would be nice if the leader of the biggest power in the world held to a better moral standard, but it wont ever happen.
We are all sinners, evne you Speedy.

I don,t understand what the Governor General jobs is let alone a provincial lieutenant-governor.
Don,t they just greet the queen when she gets of the plane when she visits?
What matters to me is whether a politician lives his faith regardless of denomination. We've had too many politicians who belong to churches who take stands on issues (i.e abortion, euthanasia, gay marriage) but they themselves do not take those stands.

You mean like our MP Tony Martin (NDP), who's a Catholic, and abortion?
That happens here, too.
Pope Benedict has come out and told Catholic politicians who support abortion that they have forfeited the right to participate in the Holy Eucharist in their current state.
Claiming you're Catholic doesn't automatically mean you're Catholic. Some people have excommunicated themselves absent a papal mandate.

Actually I don't give a fiddlers what faith any politician is as thats none of my bee's wax. They are there to represent the people not to hold a Bible reading. What they do on their own time I don't care, hell they can dance around the May pole stark naked if they want.
But what if the president or prime minister needs an exorcism?

He would have been a good Pope in the 13 or 1400s but in todays world he is totally out of it.
It's called leadership, and sticking to your guns.
It's sorely lacking in todays' day and age.
Americans, always have to have guns in it one way or another.

Re excommunication and abortion.
If this was going to occur, we would be hearing a lot more about it.

No its called being out of touch.
That just shows you have a natural aversion to authority. It's a sign of immaturity.

As opposed to an even more dangerous affliction, the worship of authority, that Speedy has in spades.
Your faith shows how crazy it gets without authority.
