2:45 today. Winner advances to the semi-finals

Canada is winless in its last 26 matches against the U.S., going 0-22-4 since a win at the Algarve Cup in 2001. The all-time series tilts 43-3-5 in favour of the Americans.

The U.S. has won the last two Olympic gold medals, while a win Monday would guarantee Canada’s first Summer Games medal in a traditional team sport — not counting rowing or equestrian — since a men’s basketball silver in 1936.

Great first half. Not a lot of good looks by the Americans. Too busy patting themselves on the backs for past medals?

Nope, that would be your World Junior hockey team, playing Russia and letting a huge lead slip away :) :) :)

And, hey, if Canada wins this game it will mean the first medal in team sports at the summer games since 1936. At that rate, you guys will kick serious butt at the 2088 games!!

#3 ranked USA should have crushed the #7 Canadians, who weren't expected to be in contention for a medal. Instead the US never led through regulation and were only just barely able to keep up with Canada until the end.

For the gold medal round USA will be the underdogs playing the World Champion Japan team. Good luck, I hope you play better than you did today.

Awww...you're angry, but it's okay, because it's understandable.

So what you are saying is that even when we play a pretty poor game, we are still better than you. :)

Thanks!!

Angry? LOL I have better things to get angry over than women's soccer, trust me.

Disappointed, sure. But at least there's a Canadian-born player on the US team so I can cheer for her and the rest of her underdog team during the gold medal game.

We're underdogs, winning the last two Gold Medals and being in every Gold Medal game since the inception of women's soccer.

I'll take it!

As for the Canadian-born player, she will appreciate your support, as she plays for her chosen country

I guess I will say it! I would rather lose than know that I won because the ref was NOT FAIR! Call it sour grapes but it was bad refereeing from what I could see!

And the Canadian born girl.....USA is not her chosen country, she chose to play there because she thought she would have a better chance of winning a medal. So patriotic!

I have said my peace!
