I bought a new computer and got a message from AMD/ATI to update the vid card driver.
It was a pain, uninstalling the old driver and reinstalling the new one. Now I,m two version old and getting the update message.
All my games work and everthing works find .
Is it ok to just skip these annoying updates that seem to come every other month?

If everything works to your satisfaction you can skip an update.
Usually the new drivers offer improved performance with games and software. I always check the change log to determine if any games/software that is listed is something I use.

For AMD I would like here to see if it's worth it to update : http://blogs.amd.com/play/tag/ati-catalyst/

With AMD I would highly highly recommend running driver sweeper after uninstalling your previous drivers. Then do a clean install of the new drivers. Thats AMD drivers for you lol.
