Talk about a fall..... from gold to not better than 5th. A true "powerhouse of hockey". LOL!

So the reigning Gold Medals winners are out (I mean "oooooot"). That means there will be a new Gold Medal winner this year. Maybe it will be Canada...who hasn't won one since, what, 2009?

LOLOL

Everyone knows the real Gold Medal game was played today. No dishonor in losing to the Russians, as someone has to win when the top-two hockey countries face-off.

Losing to Canada, that stings. Why? Because Canada is a mediocre hockey country. Any country that loses to Canada anymore really needs to take a step back and reevaluate what's going on.

Maybe it will be Canada, the same country whose team has (aside from last year's 4th place finish) not finished out of medals since 1998. Much more believable than the USA , whose team has only won a medal 8 times since 1977, ever was.

You should be embarrassed to be trying to suggest that the American team is anywhere near the same caliber as the Russians.

I would imagine if Canada makes it to the Gold game they will have some people rooting for them. It's always good to see the underdog do well, and play above their capability.

It would be the same if someone like Slovakia made it. Middling hockey nations can surprise from time to time

Just like the USA did last year.

Aristotle

That would be incorrect. The USA has surpassed Canada in hockey, that is abundantly clear to any impartial observer.

I must say, your anger in this thread is nothing short of stunning. I fear Canada's great decline in hockey is a very, very tender subject with you.

Actually I couldn't care less about hockey. I don't recall the last time I watched a complete game. But I get great pleasure out of watching you trying to get your foot out of your mouth.

Actually I couldn't care less about hockey. I don't recall the last time I watched a complete game.

I fear a great many Canadians could utter these same sad words. It is clear Canada is in denial over its stunning fall from hockey supremacy over the last decade. It has shook the country to its' core.

And it is normal, when things are too difficult to take, for a person to avoid the issue or thing that is causing them such pain. In this case, a case of collective denial has gripped a once-great hockey country.

I wish you were handling your decline better, but, it is what it is.

The NHL is the Greatest Professional League in the World.

More than half the players are Canadians.

Less than 20% are Americans.

What does that tell you?
