Mikhail Grigorenko and Eduard Gimatov scored in the first period as Russia sent Canada home without a medal at the world junior championship for a second year in a row with a 2-1 victory in the bronze-medal game on Sunday.

I think that these results come from the ingrained mentality we have in Canada that we're better than everyone. It's the same arrogance that we hear,it ddoesn't matter who's in net for Canada we always win Gold, when in fact we don't always win. I tell my kids all the time, every game you play you have to go into it respecting your opponent and never underestimate them. Canada has spent an entire generation understimating the opposition and now they're just as good if not better.

Hockey has grown from a Canadian past time to a world wide sport being played with such regularity that other countries are as good or better than Canadians are at it. Why does Canada have to be so narrow minded and egotistical? 'Our game' has grown and is better now than it's ever been - be proud of that instead of obsessively needing the acknowledgement that Canadians are better hockey players and people than everyone else.http://www.tsn.ca/world_jrs/story/?id=440440

Canada won't win Gold for two reasons:

1) they do not perform well on Olympic-sized ice

2) unlike the WJC, Canada cannot manipulate the officials and tournament (not that it has helped lately :) )

Canada's Achilles heel will be in net. America's Achilles heel will be scoring.
