Well, I'm sure glad spring is just around the corner. It's a refreshing -26 degrees here this morning. The skies are blue and the sun is shining. It's a beautiful day in Algoma.

Another positive note - I haven't been bitten by a black fly or mosquito for the last few months.

Gotta love those pesky little black flies! I hope when they do appear, the wind blows strong or the sun shines hot! That's the good thing about winter.....no black flies, mosquitoes, deer flies, horseflies, earwigs nor PINE BUGS!

There are no negative notes as long as you wake up on this side of the grass but in this case, the high side of the snow! :) :) :)

As for black flies, they are the most annoying and aggravating "ruin my day" little creatures ever!!!!

The Spring.

The spring has sprung,
the grass has riz
I wonder where the birdies is?
Oh, there's one flying way up high,
Oops, he whitewashed in my eye!!
But I'm a brave boy, I don't cry,
I'm just glad the cows don't fly!!!

I would love it if someone could walk me through the rationale of an irrational fear. I am really really interested in where phobias come from.

I would like to know too because being extremely afraid of birds, bats and heights ruins a lot of fun. I don't even want to sit around the campfire in the evening because of BATS or worse yet coming across the lake in a boat in the evening when the are BATS flying all over the lake.

I've seen some from (unmentionable) parents teasing little kids about bats and spiders and bees.

With five brothers, I got teased with stuff but my fears have nothing to do with that! I remember being very young, visiting someone with birds that were flying around the house. I might have been three or four and I remember screaming and being terrified. As for heights, I don't know!

I wonder if most phobias are created in early childhood? I know grown men who will pass out for fear of an enclosed space. Or people who just freak over a mouse, as if they are being murdered. I don't understand why those fears cannot be faced and overcome.

Confucius say, big time fear of little things come from long-time hangup in former life.

As for me, I hate skeeters and black-flies, but the worst critter of them all is the dreaded 'no-see-um'. That may not be the technical Latin term for them, but those tiny little beggars that screen doors won't even stop. They're the worst!

I think they ARE created in early childhood. My wife was claustrophobic. Why? Likely from being locked in a barrel by older brothers.
Had a foster child deathly afraid of bees. Which I understood after seeing the way her father teased he about it.

I believe some are created by teasing at a young age. But others you must be born with! Heights? That is a DEATHLY afraid of fear.

I like spring except for the fact that I know out there in the woods are creatures just waiting, in their eggs ( which are alive), to be hatched, into killers. Oh how I hate running unexpectedly into a brood of partridge chicks. You ever notice the size of a partridge hens beak?

Okay for me I had a fear of the old Bantam rooster which lurked in the chicken coop waiting, daring me to come gather eggs.

Pit bulls don't bother me though.

We won't need a splash park. http://www.saultstar.com/2014/01/06/council-more-info-needed-for-splash-park-report

Just line the kids up along the sidewalks and let the potholes do the work.
