What do a recent high-school dropout and the Maple Leafs have in common?
They’re both young, have no goals and no prospects.

What do the Leafs and a fine wine have in common?
They both spend a lot of time in the cellar, cost too much and are only enjoyed on select occasions.

What do the Maple Leafs and the Titanic have in common?
They both look good until they hit the ice.

Why is the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto?
It’s the only way Leafs fans can see the Stanley Cup.

What’s the difference between frequent flyers and the Maple Leafs?
Frequent flyers earn points.

What do the Toronto Maple Leafs and possums have in common?
Both play dead at home and get killed on the road.

Why do the Leafs have trouble maintaining a website?
They can’t string three Ws together.

Doubts proven correct...

COLUMBUS, OHIO -- Columbus Blue Jackets right wing David Clarkson will be sidelined four to six weeks due to a torn oblique muscle suffered in Tuesday night’s game against the Washington Capitals, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.

Clarkson, 30, collected 14 penalty minutes in three games with the Blue Jackets after being acquired by the club on February 26 from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for right wing Nathan Horton. He has registered 112 goals and 84 assists for 196 points with 969 penalty minutes in 547 career NHL games, including 10-5-15 and 106 penalty minutes in 61 games this season.

I know it's just too bad when capitalism rears it's ugly head, but at the very top of any sport, I believe we see the same end result. Money talks, and the sport wherein money can be made will end up the same way.

The Maple Leafs, Danica Patrick, who else might there be???

BTW, Leafs fans still see great hockey, even if the other guy wins!!! And that's why they'll never be judged by their performance on the ice!!! :) :) :)

"Part of what’s gone on here is that they’ve managed to produce a team that is not just bad, but appears to not give a damn," Brunt told Boomer and Rhett. "It’s almost rubbing it in people’s faces - the lack of try, the lack of effort."

"They are the least likable group of professional athletes I think I’ve ever been around. Just the way they play, outside of the arena, the way they come across – they come across as the opposite of plucky underdogs that are trying really hard even if they’re not quite good enough. This is talented guys who are getting paid enormous amounts of money who stopped trying a long time ago and are kind of laughing at everybody. That’s a bad vibe if you’re a consumer."

I'm not sure how they plan on moving the last 3 major pieces (Kessel, Lupul and Phaneuf) but they definitely need to be moved from the line up. I would suspect Toronto will have to swallow some of their salaries to move them, but that may be a small price to pay to remove this cancer from the team.

The Voice

Phanuef is a good value at his salary and he will move somewhere to be a #3 or 4 defense-man. In order to move Lupul they will have to eat some of his salary I would think. They will trade Bozac for a bag of pucks(if they can get that) and keep Kessel. He will make a good winger for McDavid.

Phaneuf is the opposite of a good value for his salary. He almost makes elite player money. He is the 6th highest paid defenseman and I can name 15 guys better than him and an infinite number who are as good as him.

With the trade deadline long gone, I guess we'll see what value other GM's put on him this summer when the Leaf's shop him out. Maybe the move will do him good (confidence) and he'll become a #3-4 D-man again. But right now I just don't see it in him...
