this is a good thing now?

"Canada and Japan are attempting to water down a strong G7 statement on climate change as the summit enters its final day today.

The Canadian Press has been told by sources who have seen the working draft of the G7ís climate change communique that the two countries are blocking attempts at a specific statement on binding greenhouse gas reduction targets."

Doing this was basically the face of pure evil when Bush was in power. Now I'm assuming watering-down language on global climate consensus is the tolerant and compassionate thing to do.

Canada is being publicly blasted as a climate laggard in a report co-authored by former United Nations secretary general Kofi Annan, while the government's chief climate negotiator fielded skeptical questions about Canada's greenhouse-gas reduction policies at a UN climate conference in Bonn this week.
