When you have a monopoly you do not have to reduce the price. They should be ashamed of themselves for gouging.

With a population ten times bigger, it stands to reason better services might be available. Especially when the rich can pay.

But some Americans use Canadian services. And Canadians don't lose their homes to medical bills.

Well then, this should make you proud!!!

"The state of Florida is putting thousands of children with heart defects at risk, a group of cardiac doctors say, because of a change in policy that came after Tenet Healthcare contributed $200,000 to Florida Republicans.

In a widely publicized investigation in June, CNN revealed that a program at a Tenet hospital in Florida had failed to live up to state quality standards for children's heart surgery."

http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/inside-canadas-secret-world-of-medical-errors-there-is-a-lot-of-lying-theres-a-lot-of-cover-up

Research suggests that about 70,000 patients a year experience preventable, serious injury as a result of treatments. More shocking, a landmark study published a decade ago estimated that as many as 23,000 Canadian adults die annually because of preventable “adverse events” in acute-care hospitals alone.

The rate of errors may be even higher today, some evidence suggests, despite the millions of dollars spent on much-touted patient-safety efforts.

Yet a tiny fraction of those cases are publicly acknowledged and usually only in the form of antiseptic statistics. For most serious treatment gaffes, not even the sparsest of details is revealed, making the vast problem all but invisible.

The Post has also learned there is no routine, public documentation of one common source of health-care harm — malfunctioning medical devices linked to dozens of deaths and hundreds of serious injuries every year

This is not a supply and demand issue. This is an issue with a cartel that is allowed to exist, trying to force companies that are not part of the cartel into bankruptcy by flooding the market, knowing very well this lead to oversupply and rock bottom prices.
I am however thinking this cartel bit of to much this time around. I foresee an Arab spring revolution style revolt in that part of the world and the end of the oil sheikh's ruling their countries with an iron fist.

How is Communism not slavery?

Because the idea behind communism is the common ownership of the means of production, among other things.
It is the exact opposite of capitalism, where the means of production is private among other things.

I do however foresee the need for capitalism to change into a different form, as the current system is becoming unsustainable.

Capitalism must always be tweaked. In its raw form it is beastly. But with the right tweaks and safeguards it is the best system we've devised yet.

It's hard to believe, in 2016, we're still arguing over which system is superior: Capitalism and Communism. It seems so archaic. The match was decided for Capitalism long ago, and it ended with a concrete thud for Communism in 1991.

Actually, in China, the communists have adopted Capitalism. So their economy is now a capitalistic one.

You are incorrect: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist_market_economy

It is a hybrid, and if you dig up some of my older posts you will see I have stated on many occasions that the best system is a mix, using the best of every other system.

I cannot wait for the huge savings at the pump this drop is going to bring.

I do not even look at the pumps anymore in Sault Canada. At $29 a barrel the gas is only 20 cents a litre less then when it was $90 a barrel.

Hope the barrel sky rockets and get everyone back to work and the dollar out of it's crash dive, because the gas pump savings it not worth talking about.

When the price of a barrel gets back to the $90 range do we honestly think that Sault Ontario prices will only rise by 20 cents a litre? If and when the price increase, the present gouging will be mild to the one that will occur.

Barry Morris

I think the current oil barrel vs pump price is a clear example of man's greed, and evidence of why the economy will eventually crash completely.

Next time you buy gas look at the receipt, something like 40% tax on gasoline. That is why the price hasn't come down as much.. Our country is broke just like every other country.
