Police arrested a suspect in a shooting that left four people dead in a small town in northern Saskatchewan, Canadian authorities said.

A call came in Friday afternoon about a shooting at a school in La Loche, said Maureen Levy, chief superintendent of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Officers went to the La Loche Community School, arrested a suspect and seized his weapon, he said. In addition to the school, police are investigating a shooting at a residence in the town of about 2,600 people, Levy said.

"The country's heart is breaking," Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said after the shooting.

"Three of the four victims killed Friday in a pair of shootings in a remote northern Saskatchewan community have been identified by family members. The victims are said to be Marie Janvier, 21, and brothers Dayne and Drayden Fontaine. 12:15 PM ET"

Still not a lot to report on this. It happened in two places with one being the school. While I can sympathize with the parents and family losing kids it is the shooters family I feel the worst for. In a town of 2600, memories are long. This will be hard on every single member of the community. This may well scab over but it will never heal.

Now the Mayor was heard to say on National TV he wants the school torn down and rebuilt because of what transpired. Some people are of diminished capacity and should be medicated.

exactly......if there was another shooting there next year....they would want the school torn down again? People die all over the place and life must go on. Lets hope the powers to be do not tear that school down.
