The leaves have been totally stripped from the trees on a very large section of Red Rock Rd., on both sides of the windmills. The worst section is part way down the hill on the lake side. It appears they are working from the top down, as evidenced by the trees only partially munched. These are big trees, 20-40 feet high.

I haven't seen a single "tent". Are they tent/army caterpillars?

Aristotle

Yes, they have been legion over on this side of the pond

Barry Morris

Yup, they are moving north.

Climate change.

You know, like black squirrels!!

Well, I have always wondered about barbequed caterpillars.
Would they be crunchy, or squishy?

Crunchy, without a doubt, decidedly crunchy.

Aristotle

I think it would be a mix. They would be Sqrunchy. Or Crishy.

Hans

I think it would depend on how long you barbecue them.

Barry Morris

Breaded?? Deep fried??

I have heard as well as witnessed people eating and supposedly enjoying caterpillars and such but I would have to be some God awful hungry to attempt it myself. The mere thought tightens my colon.

I dunno. We eat pigs, and lots of folks would toss their cookies at the idea.

My oldest daughter worked at a fly in lodge south of James Bay and spoke of men of the Jewish faith eating copious amounts of bacon while up there.

Probably Reformed Judaism, so it would be of little surprise.

that's an ...interesting take.

Why would Orthodox Jews not be interested in fishing?

I know a few that were. Peter, Andrew, James, and John, for instance.

It would seem to myself they take a vacation for more than a single reason. Fishing aside, a few drinks, a damn good Cuban stogie and a half dozen rashers of bacon might make the rest of the year more bearable, who are we to say?

You HOPE it hurts. It doesn't. The problem being, your church teachings claims precedence over the bible, so you don't believe what it says unless your church confirms it.

Kinda blows any supposed bible "teaching" you think you are doing.

It's quite clear by our past discussions I am more knowledgeable than you in the Bible. This, of course, drives you insane.

As for my Church, it makes no such claim, I have proven that over and over. It is now clear you arer resorting to outright lies to try and save your sinking theories.

So, care to tell me why Orthodox Jews do not fish?

Barry, why do Orthodox Jews not like fishing vacations?

Barry Morris

Barry, why do Orthodox Jews not like fishing vacations?

A few reason, I suppose. Similar to myself.

I know of no Orthodox Jews in North America who live outside major cities, like Toronto or New York. That would be one reason, little exposure to outdoor activities, and more comfortable in an urban setting.

And second, fishing is rarely the main event at such events. No wives, lots of beer, and generally a good time without constraints. Hard to imagine many Orthodox Jews going out for that.

I hope this helps.

Hans

I will prove they do like fishing.

"Frumster, a premier online Jewish dating site for Orthodox Jews, hosts get-away events for singles including activities such as horseback riding, water-skiing, fishing, kayaking, boating, rock climbing, speakers, workshops and much more. One coming event is open to all Jewish Professionals in their 20s and 30s, and the price includes food and transportation."

KOSHER RICA – JEWISH TRAVEL IN COSTA RICA: https://www.joyofkosher.com/2013/06/kosher-rica-jewish-travel-in-costa-rica/

"For Jewish travelers, Costa Rica boasts a fascinating history. A group of Sephardic Jews first populated the country in the 16th and 17th century. Another wave of settlers came from neighboring Central American countries in the 19th century pursuing mercantile interests in the Caribbean. The present day community is more likely to trace its roots to Poland and Eastern Europe during the period before the Second World War when refugees still had an opportunity to flee Nazi persecution."
"I was staying about an hour away in Jaco, a popular retirement destination for American expats with beaches, world-class fishing and a number of luxury accommodations available. "

Amazing, they fish like everyone else!

But simply because you don't know any does that mean none exist?

And second, fishing is rarely the main event at such events. No wives, lots of beer, and generally a good time without constraints. Hard to imagine many Orthodox Jews going out for that.

For some groups, yes,but for all groups that go fishing?

I hope this helps.

Appreciate the response, but, no, it doesn't really help.

First, you're simply going by what you see, and then assuming so it is with the rest of the world. Isn't that using a very minuscule bit of evidence to make a rather large pronouncement on the reality of something?

Second, earlier you claimed you did not comment that Orthodox Jews did not like fishing, yet you just explained why you think it is so.

I'm a bit confused.

My daughter has told me it was not the fellows with the side locks intact who went up but just the normal, run of the mill Jewish chaps who chose to attend. They did make a point of saying their wives were not aware dietary choices while away and the fact were they to learn of it there would be some specific consequences.
