Hey everyone,
My mom has a problem with my Grandma's computer.
It's Win98Se, and it won't shut down. When shut down is selected from the start menu, it restarts. It restarts with every selection from the "shut down" menu.
I searched on google, and found some fixes (uncheck disable fast shut down), to no avail.
If anyone has had this problem, and knows how to fix it, or any ideas on how to fix it, please let me know!! My mom is ready to thrown the darn thing out the window!!

Thanks in advance

Oops, should have maybe explained the ORIGINAL problem, lol
(I'm a fantastic computer fixer-upper, lol)
So the first problem was that it wouldn't shut down. It would hang at the "windows is shutting down" screen. So I unchecked the disable fast shut down box, and then it just keeps restarting.

There were some driver conflicts, but those were taken care of.
Any thoughts??
Other than throwing it, I mean.

98 is notorious for hanging at the shutdown screen.

and the worst part is that it can hang there for an incredible number of reasons.

Win98SE Shutdown Supplement (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239887)

Make sure this is installed.

you also might want to go here...

Unofficial 98SE Service Packs (http://exuberant.ms11.net/98sesp.html)

This site has a ton of fixes and patches put into a single download, I found it very useful when I had win98 machines to service.

good luck.
