http://www.vianet.ca/speedtest2.php

Can people test this out and see what kinds of speeds you are getting, and maybe try and compare it with speed tests on http://www.speedtest.net

We just put up this test on our own servers and am looking at changing it to this new test.

Thanks

I think you need some more juice.

Btw, it does not open up a new page after the test?

I am getting 9375/5749... now sure how much more juice you want...

Not sure what you are asking for by it not opening up a new page... it has a restart button...

Please close all file sharing software and stop all downloads before beginning the speed test. You will be redirected to a new page once the speed test is complete.

It does not redirect me anywhere.

Oh, I see what you are talking about... ya it was just this page http://www.vianet.ca/speedtest.php changed to the new one without any modifications to the wording. That will get fixed. I was not worried about that... just the testing of the speeds...

I just noticed the old one was not giving the best results, so when I found they released a free one I thought it would be nice to try it out, but I have already seen an improvement over the old speed test.

More juice was in reference to jumping speed results.
Below is my result from NDT at http://miranda.ctd.anl.gov:7123/

Ya the results from that were off by about 4 megs for me... It all has to do too with the paths to get there... I bet you are taking a different path than me...

Thats kind of why I put that test up on here, because there will usually be better results with one connection then another. Shaw connects to us a little differently than say bell... so things may be faster on one connection than say another...

It's interesting, for sure. I noticed Shaw routes differently then Bell. I have both service hooked up, so I can see the paths to various hosts.

Either way I was expecting shaw to have a little lower speed to us anyway because of the path taken... I am going to try my dsl connections soon, just testing hardware right now...

Was talking with bell today and they said it will be automatically updated to 7MB service when it is done, just like when it went from 3mb-5mb all for FREE.

Don't know when they said, but maybe 2-4 weeks and of course they said just check your speeds from time to time to see when or if it is done.

Remember not all areas can do 5mb cause of the lines and some areas maybe can only do 5MB but no more, so i hope 7mb is good for me as 5mb is ok, but 7mb is better.. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
