That reminds me of a story of a guy who was driving a diesel, and using the vegetable oil instead of diesel fuel. The veg oil needs to be stored i a 2nd tank, and rubber fuel hoses run from the back of the car to the engine compartment..

It was a VW Rabbit.

One morning he came back to his car and found that a beer had ripped the tank open, mauled it up, found the fuel hoses and chewed them up and pretty much ruined the back end of the Rabbit.

So, one idea to keep bears away from the car, if you store food in it..

Fill up a couple of balloons with water and a good dose of ammonia. Smear the outside of the balloon with grease. Tie the balloons on the bumper. That'll be the first thing the bear is attracted to. The balloon will burst and the bear will get a mouthful of ammonia.. he may never look at another car..
