Pipe band registration Open House

The City of Sault Ste Marie Pipe Band will hold a drop-in open house on Saturday September 22, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., and Saturday September 29, between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. downstairs at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, 136 Cathcart St. (the corner of Brown and Cathcart)

The band teaches Scottish bagpipes and drumming to students ages nine and up. In addition to learning to play the bagpipes or drums, the students will also learn the values of teamwork, dedication, responsibility and community service, all in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Our instructors volunteer their teaching time which keeps fees low and builds our dedicated ‘family’ atmosphere. It is our goal to bring up a new generation of players into the competition pipe band community. Lessons are open to anyone between the ages of 9 and 18. Of course these ages are just guide lines, so if your child is slightly younger and willing to commit to practice, we do make allowances.

Drop in to see a demonstration, meet the band director and instructors, try out the instruments, and find out more about the program.

No but he is in the 49th Field Regiment Pipes and Drums at the armories. He also plays at various funerals and weddings etc.

I understand the inventor of the bagpipes was inspired when he saw a man carrying an indignant, asthmatic pig under his arm. Unfortunately, the man-made object never equalled the purity of sound achieved by the pig.

The only sound a pig should make is a sizzling sound in my pan.

I don't mind the pipes ... highland games are awesome.
