Canadians just don't drink and drive.
Kentucky’s Alcoholic Beverage Control executive director apologized and resigned Monday after police said he drank, drove and stumbled during his sobriety test Saturday night.
Gov. Ernie Fletcher appointed Lilly to the executive director position last year. A spokesman for the state cabinet that includes the ABC agency said Lilly has spoken with Environmental and Public Protection Secretary Teresa Hill. The spokesman, Mark York, said Lilly intends to resign effective the day after his arrest.
Before heading up A.B.C., Lilly was the commissioner of the state's Department of Public Protection and the executive director for the Office Of Charitable Gaming.
Lilly previously served for 21 years as the general counsel and chief legislative and policy analyst for the Republican caucus of the Kentucky senate.
