I have a 4 in 1 Lexmark printer. Been working fine till a few days ago. When I turn the printer on the paper feed starts up, although it doesn't pull any paper through. It then shuts down and the light starts blinking. I tried just putting one piece of paper in the tray to see if it would grab it and complete the cycle. No dice. I checked the software program and there are no printing jobs in the que.(spelling?) I checked the connections at the printer and on the tower and all seems OK. One time I got a message that the computer could not communicate with the printer. I did the suggested trouble shooting items including powering down the whole system and re-booting but still the same problem. Any suggestions please?

Bobtoe here again. I am still wrestling with this printer problem. I have been on my knees un-plugging and plugging in cables so often K-A's cat thinks I wanna play a game. This morning I un-installed the printer program and tried to re-install it. A window popped up saying there was an error and I could either close the window or ignore it. I clicked on both options, one at a time, but it wouldn't let me do either option. In behind I could partially see another window downloading files?
So now I don't know if I re-loaded anything at all. Now I know why they say that computers are a labour saving device. You get to keep your job trouble shooting the damn things. Can anyone come to my house and help me restore peace in the family? I am willing to negotiate a small fee for your services, plus a free cup of coffee. I can be e-mailed at bobtoegrant@shaw.ca

Model number on my Lexmark printer is 4477-001
Serial number is 11520485556
I am presently making Chase and Sanborn coffee.
I tried un-installing the software program and then when I tried to re-install the computer kept saying "unable to install, error on line 112" I talked to the folks at Staples and they believe the problem is in the printer. Cost of repairs would be more than the price of a new printer. I think the new printer is the route that K-A, my boss, is leaning toward.

Babzz, thanks for your help. Our printer is 2 years old so I guess a new printer is the route to take.

I had a problem with my printer a few weeks ago. I went onto the lexmark webiste and did some online help and they fixed it right away for me. (it was not pulling the paper straight and making a weird grinding sound) I highly recommend this rather then sitting on the phone with them... you type back and forth like msn!
