Has anyone been out this year to dipnet for whitefish? I'm going this weekend and just wondering how others have been doing. Next year, you will not have to bother with the free permit that you must obtain now from the MNR. In 2008, the dip netting will be included with your fishing license.

Friends of mine were dip netting near White River around Halloween but it was too early...they only caught 3 fish. I'm hoping our luck will be much better this weekend. I'm going up the Chapleau Highway.

May be to late, We go up every year to Whiteriver and found Mid Oct the best. We tried early Oct and early Nov and found it not as good.

We always get our limit fairly easily up there.
