hi, i dont know if this is the right place to ask this, but our portable dvd player isnt working anymore. when we put a dvd in it, it just keeps coming up "no disc" it says loading, then no disc.

does anyone know if this is a common problem and if it is easy and cheap to fix or a big problem? thank.s

I think your internal eye(lens) may be dirty. especially if u smoke. all i can recommend is call around for prices to realign it. try 3-4 different companys, muntz, mtv on tancred and wellington, he reasonable. tell him ken told you,lol

Sometimes low batteries even though the indicator does not show them low .. can cause this issue in portable CD and DVD players, but yes the lens could be dirty as that is also a common issue.

Also see if the Disc itself is dirty or to scratched for the DVD player to play it.

If neither of the above work then it maybe becoming a faulty DVD player.

If you've tried the above suggestions and they didn't help post back because I have a few of them and might have a few ideas as to whats wrong.

If cleaning the lens doesen't help, most cases the optical might be bad on it, how ever if that is the case, it would be cheaper to just replace it, as the parts and labour would probably work out to more, Ive seen loads of these units and 99.999% of the time the optical has gone bad. Bottom line, most of these units are made so cheaply that their is no quality in them, when they break, toss them out and buy a new one..

Here is a suggestion, if replacing is the option you choose, i would look in to a quality brand name, and perhaps something with extended warranty.
