Wow....lovely trees everyone!! I don't relish the thought of decorating for Christmas, to be honest. Goodness it's alot of work. I work full time nights, and hauling out all those Rubbermaids, spending basically a full day to decorate the tree and the house just seems like sooooo much work! Bah Humbug!!

What if I just blew up my photo of the living room and tree decorated from last year, and put it up where the tree should be? Think anyone would notice the difference?

Because our son is 1 this year will just pull the tree over and possibly hurt himself. I am not putting a tree up this year. I know I could block it off so he can't get it. But we are also moving in January because we just bought a new house and I can't stand the thought of unpacking Christmas stuff while I'm trying to pack up the rest of the house. We'll skip this year.

I didn't think I was going to put up a tree last year for the same reason, my son had just turned 1 yrs old 1 1/2 mths before xmas last year. Surprisingly he was very good and when we told him not to touch he didn't. I think the entire time we had it up he only touched it 3 or 4 times and that was it. Just trying to take one of the balls off or poking at it to make it swing.

This year he knows not to touch it and doesn't, just wants it plugged in all the time. From the moment he gets up in the morning it gets plugged in and stays plugged in until he goes to bed.

My son just turned 2 yrs old last month and my daughter just turned 6 mths old, glad I took the 1 1/2 hr to decorate it after they went to sleep last week.

    I'll post a picture shortly.

Here's my tree, it's not finished, still have some more small decorations that have to go on it. It also includes my cat sleeping under the tree, his fav. place to sleep lately.

It's a much smaller tree then we had last year but it's good enough.

If I had a tree to take photos of, I would turn out the lights in the room. Turn on the lights of the tree. Use a tripod or some other stable support. Set my camera to aperture priority or manual mode. Dial in something that would give me a fairly slow shutter speed but would properly expose the scene. The slower the shutter speed, the more you will get a star effect from your light sources. I think that would look cool.

Or, you could always try the HDR technique.

Simply put, you place the camera in manual mode. You take an over exposed photo, then take several photos until you pass through the spectrum to an underexposed photo. The more in between shots the better. You will need to have the Camera on a tripod to take the same shot exactly. You then can use a program such a few of these FREE Programs from this table to stitch them together.

Google HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography to find out more.

    Just a couple of ideas.
