"Canadians looked a little Scrooge-like compared to Americans and Britons in a recent poll on charitable giving and volunteering, released just as many non-profit groups are ramping up their holiday appeals.
About 60% of Canadians had contributed money to an organization in the past month, according to the Gallup report, compared to 73% in Britain and 64% in the U.S. Canada fared somewhat better helping a stranger in need, with 64% of residents saying they had, while 66% of Americans and 59% of Britons did so.
Canadians fell in the middle in terms of volunteering. Thirty-nine per cent said they'd pitched in over the past month, compared to 44%in the U.S. and 23% in Britain."
However, fear not!! In grand Canadian tradition, this story will be ignored, they'll make up stories on how they are the most charitable nation, and the deep psychological need is again satiated.
