    Default outdoor wood furnaces

Does anyone here use one or know someone who does? I'm buying one soon and wanted to hear any reports of cracks in the fireboxs and water jackets.
Also what kind of warranty and was it honoured.
And of course, t304 stainless vs. t409 stainless vs. mild steel for construction of firebox.
Just looking for other peoples opinions on these units.
I will be using for in floor radiant heating in house and garage!

I personally know two people who had them, one lasted for one winter and they took it out, the other one they had it for two winters before they took it out, both said they liked the heat, no wood smoke smell in the house and the house insurance did go down but not enough to make up for the amount of wood burned, these wood hogs burn twice to three times as much wood as a regular wood stove, fifty cords a year is the norm
Have spoken to other people who did a lot of research on these and all have decided against getting one, they are not cheap to buy and not cheap to operate.

The fellow I know, had a well insulated stove, and used this heat spray foam for the pipes. Shuts down the stove and it burns longer.

25 cords is what he uses to keep it at 54, and electric blankets, says it costs him way less, just more in labour.

I would buy a pellet stove instead, much more economical and no firewood to handle.

I have a out door wood furnace,(central boiler) I start it at the end of september and shut it down end of may and will burn 20 - 22 cords of wood. Also this heats my domestic water so the electric hot water tank is shut off. My average puc bill in the winter is around $50.00. I have had my stove now for 13 seasons. If it dies i would get another without hesitation.
