The wind farm injects power into the provincial grid so I'm told. We get our power from the grid. If my memory serves me correctly, according to the guy at Brascan during my tour of the place, there is enough energy produced from the wind farm in a year to power all the houses in the Soo. The province might sell power from the grid from time to time to other jurisdictions who need additional power.

Thats thee kind of thinking that makes me wonder about our less fortunate countries in asia and africa. why don't they build some worthwhile.
That's what she said !
So thats a yes, TY
I don't think we get power from the windmills. When the power went off all over Ontario and USA......we were on the same grid as New York City. It took them about 16 hours to switch us to Great Lakes Power. Here we have power right on our river and we had to wait to be switched.Thats the grid for you.
But Sault Mich didn't lose their power.
and why is our power grid so sensitive? like anything could knock it off, i remember before there was a time when any strong wind or storm knocked it off. its almost to the point that it isn't reliable when it does that! i hate when that happens and im in the middle of something on the puter grrrrrrr
maybe if you had a life beyond your puter it wouldn't be as big a bother.

I was told during a tour after the last huge power failure, the one that started in New York state and hit the entire East Coast, that the local power facility was ready to go after only 20 minutes. But the grid managers wouldn't let them turn on the Sault's power for 11 hours!!! The locals were getting panicy because of potential flooding in the power plant, which has floors 80 feet below Lake Superior.
''Our culture has accepted two huge lies: The first is that if you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, you must fear them or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You don’t have to compromise convictions to be compassionate.''
There was a good reason for that. The power that goes into the grid has to be maintained at a certain balance. Repowering the grid so I'm told had to be done carefully. Having said, we put the lights back on here a lot earlier than most other part of the country. We even made sure the hospital had power when most of the city was still out.
