It is, but you don't have to make it that way.
That's right, Simba. We can all make a difference by not buying into a commercial Christmas. Just think of how much of what we buy those kids and grandkids ends up in a dark closet collecting dust or at the goodwill store 6 months down the road!
Christmas is what you make it to be.
I get tired of people complaining about certain things associated with Christmas, like some invisible force is making them celebrate Christmas in a way they would rather not.
There are hundreds of things Christmas is, pick and choose those things that help make it a Christmas you enjoy and look forward to; disregard all the other stuff.
Of course, for me Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ, so that takes center stage. But I also enjoy incorporating other aspects of the holiday; some of the more secular things, you could say. But I'm also comfortable enough in who I am to not worry about losing sight of the 'reason for the season'.
And even if some people all but ignore the real reason for the season (Jesus), but still get together with family and friends and have fun and laughter, what's the harm? It's not for us to judge how people spend their Christmas, that's God's job.
Do I get tired of some of the commercialization of Christmas? Sure I do. But so many people want to 'throw the baby out with the bathwater', so to speak, when it comes to Christmas. They simply throw their hands up in the air over it all. You even hear of people complaining about Santa Claus! Please, give me a break! Santa has given millions of dreams to millions of kids, not to mention endless smiles and innocent wonder. I dare say that is more than some contemporary 'churches' do.
I say grow a set, and take control of YOUR Christmas, and spend less time worrying about others.
people are forgetting about the true reason for christmas, to be with family, and maybe just for the kids. its getting out of hand it seems that people MUST buy things and are rushed. i just think you have to control it like throughout the rest of the year. however, if you got the money all the best to you, i can buy 1 small thing which is the idea that counts, compared to a big, expensive thing.
The people that feel they "must" do anything on Christmas are the ones who have let the holiday control them, instead of the other way around.
YOU take control of the holiday, and these things do not happen.
Who am I, Dr. Phil??
exactly! it get to some peoples heads,. just like the casino does.
