My Holiday Wish For You
That you take time to smell the Holly, the Pine trees,
the Poinsettias, the Chestnuts roasting.
That you hear, really hear, the words of the beautiful, Christmas
Carols.
That you feel the snow beneath your feet, if you are lucky enough to
have it.
That you wonder at the reflection of the Christmas tree lights,
the starlight, the moonlight, glistening across the land.
That you see enchantment in a small child's face on Christmas day,
and that part of you comes alive again too, if only for the moment.
That you ride a Christmas sleigh, and build a Snowman or Snowwoman.
That you don't get too tired or too irritated with the shopping.
That you remember, it's the thought that counts.
That you allow people to love you, and hug you, and kiss you,
and you don't get too embarrassed.
That you give thanks for everything you have been given,
and you remember the lonely, the sad, the isolated,
and you know that your smile may just make a difference to someone
else's Christmas,
someone who may be feeling lost, because a person whom they loved very
much,
won't be with them this year.
That you call that friend you haven't spoken to in years.
That you tell your secretary, wife, husband,
lover, how you couldn't get along without them.
That you buy yourself a special Christmas present,
because you deserve it, and no one knows better than you,
what you have always longed for in your heart of hearts.
That you light a candle, and hug your dog,
and stroke your cat, and feed your fish.
That you remember to remember the feeling of Christmas long after it is
over,
long after you open your American Express bill,
and wonder what you've done, and was it worth it........
Because it was, you know.
That you still believe in Santa Claus, and Angels, and Christmas elves,
and miracles, and love and laughter, and peace and joy on earth,
because if enough of us believe, they just might happen.
Then, little by little, Christmas just may last longer and longer,
and the world will be that much more beautiful,
because YOU are in it.
