    Default Angel Fish

What kind of fish are good to put with Angels? I know that they can be aggressive, and I have one big one that is about 4 years old that picks on other fish. He takes chunks out of their fins. I have had several fish die lately, and I think it is him. I have lost two guramis, two tetras and two other angels, all in the past three months or so.

The only fish in my tank who never seem to look worse for the wear are that angel fish, my plecko, and my other algae eater. Therefore, I don't think it is a water quality issue, or else they would all show signs of damage.

Is it possible that this angel fish is telling me that he wants to be alone in my tank?

Oh, by the way, this angel fish also has a large tumour just behind the fin on the underside of its body. What is that from?

I have a medium sized Angel with Tiger Barbs, Golden Barbs, 2 baby Parrot Ciclids, Rummy noses, a few tetras and a rope fish. My Tiger Barbs pick on the Angel...maybe get a couple of those to pick on your bully? lol

I don't know. I'm fish stupid. My fish aren't exactly co-existing that great haha

I have plenty of fish in my tank with my Angel...I have two other angels lots of tetras and two gromies (SP?) and several other. Two My big male angel is agressive with the other two angels but I think he is mating with the one and is territorial with the other but none of them look bad. It just looks like he head butts them. Sorry I can't help you all that much I am fish stupid I just have them but the first to admit I don't know much about them. My one angel is about 4 years old the others I am not exactly sure got them from the lady that I got the tank from.

In my experience, angels usually hang out near the top of the tank. Gouramis do as well, so they usually pick on each other for territory. Maybe try something like a kribensis, which likes the bottom, or fast fish like barbs. Tinfoil barbs are awesome. They are schoolers, so you'd need maybe 6 or so, but they can do well against more predator fish. Also, sharks do well with Angels because of their agressiveness and they also usually like the bottom of the tank.

Any recommendations as to the type of shark? Irridescent, red tailed, etc.? I heard the red tailed were more aggressive.

But that point about the water levels occupied by different species is interesting. Maybe loaches would do well because they stick near the bottom? Loaches look cool.

    Hey, what's a parrot ciclid?

I have two sharks in my tank....I have a dark blue...or black completely black...NOt sure what kind of shark and then I have a red tailed. From what I have read, sharks are agressive if you only have a couple...like it you only have one red tailed it will be fine if you put in two it will be aggressive unless you have a school of them 4 or more so I have read. I could be wrong but its just what I have read online.

Parrot Ciclids look like goldfish, to me. But mine are just little babies. Fugly white little things. They're a bit aggressive. But they don't bother my Angel at all.

Check out this site it might help you out a bit. I've used it to decide what types of fish would be best for me to have.

Okay, so I just bought a parrot ciclid. I thought it was cute. It is totally putting the run on my angels. The tables have turned. I was told that parrot ciclids are not aggressive. Wrong. Oh well, if he kills my angels, I guess I can just go with an all-ciclid tank, LOL. Throw a couple of sharks in there, and watch 'em go.

Well, it seems my new blood parrot cichlid has settled in. He has established his territory, and doesn't seem to be chasing the others as much. He is a pretty cool fish. He comes right up to you if you get near the tank and stares at you. He follows you if you move too. He sure knows how to eat (goes crazy for bloodworms)!

I was told he is a juvenile parrot fish. He is the same size as my big angel. (Maybe three inches long?)

They're both really pretty. For the life of me, I can't get a pic of my Cichlids lol But from looking around online, I'm starting to think they're going to stay white. I know a lot of Parrots are artificially dyed really funky colors or to make their red/orange more vibrant (like here)

I dunno. My fugly white things have started to grow on me haha
