    I always stuff the bird with a mixture of bread onions ,celery and spices and a bit of mashed potatoes (if there is any leftovers) after the bird is stuffed I put popcorn in it.Then when the bird gets hot enough to pop the corn and blow the butt of the bird I know it is ready.
