Uh, it's not in a slot as far as I know. The one that's in the computer is onboard.

As you can clearly tell, I am not a computer hardware person. LOL

The computer is over a year old.

Even tho your computer has onboard video it will probably have either an AGP or PCI-E slot. If not you'll need a new motherboard as there are no viable alternatives.

Please go to http://www.cpuid.com and download CPU-Z. Extract and run that utility and it will give us all the information we need about your computer. If you click on the "Mainboard" tab, we need the motherboard model number. After that we can research and check what will fit your computer.

The next major question is: What would you like to be able to do with the computer and why do you think you need a video card upgrade to acheive it?

even if she doesnt have an expansion for AGP or PCI-e she will guarateed have a regular PCI slot, doubt this is the case though if its relativly new

C.I., it's to play a game on the computer. There is major lag with the mouse, so much so it's too much of a pain to actually play it. I have checked and reset all mouse settings (on the game and the computer) with no luck. There is no lag in the game, just with the mouse.

Anyway, the motherboard model number is: D845GVFN

(Keep in mind, I was TOLD that this computer was just over a year old, not sure if that's the case here.)

I can tell it's the graphics card because I just went to a site and it said that the computer would need the model up in order for it to be compatible with the game that is being played.

So... yes, definitely need a card!

Sorry that board has no video card slot. You can use a pci video card if there is a slot free but it's probably not worth it.

Why would it not be worth it to buy a card?

you have 3 PCI slots in that system then, no AGP no PCI-e
you're options are going to be limited i'm afraid and kinda hard to come by a PCI video card. if you want local theres this might not have it in stock but they will get it pretty quickly if it's available at their warehouse
I would reccomend looking around online though and see who has PCI vid cards left
