    they are said to taste like spinich and asparagus mixed together. i was reading on the net where it said they really should be steamed or boiled for 10-20 minutes, then pan sauted with butter and onions & garlic.

    i have never had them myself, but i am curious. there is tons of stuff on the net about them, quite popular for their short season.

    and they are up! got a baggie full of them this afternoon out in goulais.

    I love them, if you like greens you will love fiddleheads. I am going to go look for some tomorrow.

    Hmmm cool, a bunch of them grow in my dad's backyard, I've never heard of anyone eating them thou.
    If it is the same fern, how do I know for sure?
    I'd hate to try to eat it and get horribly sick!

    well, i boiled up a bunch of them today and then sauted them with butter and garlic. they were interesting. i wouldnt say i loved them, but i wouldnt say they were horrible either. im glad i tried them. my hubby really liked them. they were free and also good for you!

    I've also heard they are growing in the Sault College woodlot.
