not roberta bondar pavillion...reason: if its nice out then you have to deal with the kids in area skateboarding and crashing the wedding and if the weather is not so nice the wind and cold off the river is not nice!

there is a photographer that i believe is named steven (maybe listed) who my daughter had for her wedding. he did an exceptional job and the cost was well below other quotes. i can find out next week when i talk to her who he was if you are interested.

apparell seems to be suzy shier around here although their are nice places in sudbury or even south of the border to look. rietmans seems to have decent bridesmaid appparel but i think they may be getting out of that end of the business. most of the men's wear stores have yux rentals for the groom with the deal that the grooms rental is free if five or more tux rentals for same party.

mann florest does wonderful work but pricey. if you are on budget consider making your owen bouguets using fresh flowers from someplace like rones or a&p. i've seen some beautiful hand made bouquets lately!

my daughter also hired a lady to look after the decorations at the hall and church which was also excellently done..again i'll find out who if you want.

tony's cake shop on gore is good. i haven't tried any others.

the venue would depend on the budget and the kind of wedding you want.tarrentorus on avery rd. puts on an awesome old time bbq meal and they have a huge room for reception.the verdi always puts out a good meal, always!!
my daughter had her wedding at the ramada and it was nice but she said she would have perferred the water tower inn but it was booked.i'm told that rankin areana gives a good deal too but i've never been to wedding there so i can't recommend.

you need to get moving girl if you are booking for this summer. most will be booked a year in advance for venue.

good luck!
what you do speaks so loudly that i cannot hear what you say.

Check out the Verdi packages. Awesome! They do everything for you. You pay one price and that includes, Hall, Food, Cake, Decorations, Music, Booze. If I had to do it again I would choose them just because it took a lot off my plate.

A&p does wedding floral setups. The arrangements are nice and the price is just as nice.

His name is Jim Evans and he does work at A&P at the Market Mall, he did my BIL's wedding a few years ago. Not sure of his pricing but he is good.

If there is only one piece of advice I would give to a bride, it is don't go cheap on your pictures. Spend the extra money there considering you have to look at those for the rest of your lives!

Congrats Cherry!

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread, I started one but it didn't really go anywhere.

I'm getting married in October 2009, and the Verdi looks really good to me, BUT after the conversation I had with my dad tonight, it may not hold enough people! (plzkillmenowOMG)

So far I have just done a lot of looking online, ebay like crazy looking for flower girl dress, tiara, ect.

CanadianBride.com is excellent, you sign up (free) and it gives you a budget calculator with adverage prices for tons of things, and you can save 3 budgets and modify them all you want, it's really fun!

I'm looking at Brian Tremblay for photography, it's pricey but I want GOOD photos, and he is cheaper than Kevanna, and cheaper than what my future SIL paid for a person I've never heard of.
His packages start at $1500

My officiant is ProffessorZed, and for ceremony I'm thinking of either Clergue Park, or Ojibway Park.

I don't know about flowers yet, but I'm going with fake for the center peices which I'll be buying from http://www.efavormart.com, definately check them out for favors and decor! other good sites are http://efavors.com/wedding-favors.html and http://www.weddingfavours.ca.

I haven't started shopping for a dress yet, but after I try a few on and see what styles look good on me I am thinking of buying a dress from this website http://www.bridalonlinestore.com great prices, it is a bit of a risk, but I have found forums where people did buy from them and had good experiences. And if it is bad, they do take returns, and if worse comes to worse you're not out all that much money.
Apparantly some of the decorators are very reasonably priced, so I would definatly call around and see instead of buying all that stuff yourself and then having to get rid of it all.

I have been considering the pkg at the Verdi, if we have it there, but it seems to me we could get the same they are offering for thousands cheaper by just hiring the people ourselves. Their basic 7 course meal per person is $20, and the pkg is $43 per person, and although it is very convenient you could probably get the same things they offer for much less, since you don't get more for the more people you have, like if you have 200 or 300 the pkg still comes with the same size cake which is only 2 tiers, but who knows, I could be doing numbers wrong.

here are other websites I find useful (am addicted to)
http://www.saultweddings.com/
http://www.weddingbells.ca/
http://www.shopforbridal.com/default.asp
http://www.frugalbride.com/weddingpl...checklist.html
http://www.bestforbride.com/index.html

and if you visit none of these sites, at least visit the forums on canadian bride
http://forums.canadianbride.com/
sooooo much advice on there!
it's like the motherload of all bride convos.

Enjoy!

I was just at a bridal shower and heard that Zellers (of all places) has a line of flowergirl dresses. Heard they were very nice. Maybe worth a look !

I looked, they are ok, but kind of cheap looking, more like "dress up" clothes, less like formal.
