Default Worth the drive to Whitby

    Religion goes under the microscope
War of the Worldviews presents a spectrum of belief systems

Should be interesting seeing an anti-Catholic Protestant debating a Hindu, Muslim and Atheist in a Catholic School. I'm planning on going but not without my protective gear!

Also, if anyone here is planning to go, look for the guy wearing a Batman cap. That will be me. I'm only going on the Saturday, not the Friday night. Come and say hi if you spot me!

Batman, would you be free to video tape the sessions?

I'm pretty sure that anyone would be allowed to video tape it if they wanted to. It is a public event with no charge or registration required. I've also been told that it will be professionally videotaped and DVDs will be made available for purchase. I'll be ordering a set myself because I'll be missing the Friday night session. Last year they only charged $20 for a two disk set of all the sessions.

BTW, I am a distributor for the DVDs from last year's event called Bible Skeptics Conference. Also a two disc set for $20 if anyone is interested. (shameless plug! :-)

Batman can you let us know when and where we can order the disks for this upcoming session?

Okay I will. That info should be available at the event and I will be looking for it. If I get the same agreement as last year, I will be able to provide them. I'll let you know one way or the other.

Okay. Today is the day after the WAR OF THE WORLDVIEWS and I live to tell the tale. I didn't make it for the Friday night debate which was Hinduism vs. Christianity but I was there yesterday for the debates Atheism vs. Christianity and Islam vs. Christianity.

The atheism one went better than the Islam one. I was impressed with the atheist up until he got defensive and resorted to profanity. That was sad too since he had his wife and two young boys there. Peter Koropatwa filled in for Michael Coren for that Debate since Michael could not be there until later. Pater had a water pistol in hand to maintain the rules of the debate time limits but never had to use it. Too bad.

Dave Hunt debated both the atheist and Muslim. Both the atheist and Muslim used the same supposed scriptural 'contradictions' as arguements against the validity of the Bible and both quoted the same scripture references to demonstrate how violent God is in the Bible.

I can't really offer a 'blow by blow' account of what happened but only say that Dave Hunt did a good job of defending theism over atheism and he did a good job of describing the evils of Islam although I'm not sure he did a very good job of winning over any Muslims for Christ as there were many muslims there.

Now as far as the videos go, we told several times throughout the day that they would be made available through Dave Hunt's web site http://www.thebereancall.org/ but we were not given any indication of when they would be made available.

I am in regular correspondence with the organizer of the event and the production company who recorded it so I should get a heads up on that soon I hope. I will post more info when I have it.

I'm sure going to the end of your driveway every other Friday to get your government 'paycheck' for not working is more than enough excitement for a while.

Typical carefully worded insult implying Vero is a welfare bum.

Or do you think he's a teacher, Speedy???
''Our culture has accepted two huge lies: The first is that if you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, you must fear them or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You don’t have to compromise convictions to be compassionate.''

Or I could be saying he's a valuable and indispensable government worker, in whom the country of Canada relies heavily in order to maintain a smooth running ship.

Where's the Christian charity and, Slugger??
